Welcome to the channel, and thanks for subscribing! Team Spain is a great choice. As you mentioned, there are many charming smaller towns that offer a more affordable cost of living while still providing a fantastic quality of life. Exploring these towns can reveal some hidden gems with a more relaxed pace and lower expenses. Thanks for sharing!

@@Karl__Pierre I went to High school in Spain (Madrid). So I am a little bias. I went to several small towns and enjoyed them more than Madrid/Barcelona. "El Castellano" was very easy to learn too. In addition, I went to University in Canada. Some of classmates were Colombians. When we spoke in Spanish (for casual conversations, as they didn't speak English) I didn't understand their Spanish dialect that much. Like I do with Mexican, Puerto Rican and a few other dialects of Spanish. So being that we were in a year long French immersion program (before we could move on to credit courses), I just spoke to them in French. It was easier.

I love Spain but I also feel totally comfortable in Colombia granted I too am from NYC. I'm also single with no family so some of the other items such as education, to an extent healthcare given that I can comfortably afford to pay for those things are not big factors for me. The food, is not very important to me either. I don't really eat out but cook often, however I'm a Pescatarian and love seafood, shell fish and the pickings are slim to none in Medellin particularly. I just arrived back home to NYC last night after spending 6 weeks in Medellin and went out to buy some lobsters!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's great to hear that you feel comfortable in both Spain and Colombia. Each place definitely has its unique offerings and you just have to choose what's best for you based on your needs and circumstances. Spain (particularly the coastal regions) would be a great for a pescatarian. Enjoy those lobsters back in NYC, and best of luck with your future travels!

@Pipe_RS91
@Pipe_RS91 Ай бұрын
@@Karl__Pierre My favorite things about living in Spain were: 1. The food: Spanish cuisine is delicious and is close to the flavors I am used to in our traditional Colombian food. I could also easily get ingredients to cook at home. This was in Granada, in southern Spain. 2. The security. I felt very safe and at ease while in the street. In Granada, there wasn't street crime. Twice I walked home at 3:00 a.m. after a party and everything was fine. 3. The cost of living: surprising as it may seem, living in Granada in a rented apartment was cheaper than living in Bogota in my own family house. I am aware that other parts of Spain are more expensive and that currently, rent prices have soared in Granada but, at the time, it was less expensive (2019-2020). Now, in Colombia there are cheaper places, like Bucaramanga, where I currently live. That was an important reason to move from Bogota when I got back.

For me, Spain beats Colombia in all these categories. There's no reason I'd pick to live in Colombia over Spain. Maybe for healthcare? I'm not saying it's better, but probably more inexpensive. I do like the fact that you can order meds using Rappi. At the end of the day, people like what they like. As for having a family, the choice should be a no-brainer.

I did 6 years in Colombia. I suggest doing extensive research about Colombia before moving there, 1 crazy inflation. You couldn't fill a grocery cart in Colombia for $350 USD, if you buy food from mom and pop shops the quality is not good because of the economy everyone holds on longer to produce which can make you sick, you're literally forced to shop at Alkosto, éxito, olímpica AND jumbo. 2 water rations and electrical rations, twice a week especially in the department of cudinamarca (Bogota) they cut the water twice a week for the entire day. 3 poor quality of goods sold due to flooding of Chinese goods and sweat shop made products, it makes it hard to find affordable quality things such as appliances, furnitures, shoes, clothes, curtains etc. Most quality products are made abroad or in Mexico and are imported with high tariffs 4 poor air quality (smog) there is not much in terms of regulation on vehicles in terms of emission and so there are alot of smokey buses, trucks and cars running around literally emitting clouds of toxic fumes all day. 5 business tax is one of the highest in south America thus killing businesses already in existence and not encouraging anyone to grow or open new ones which also keeps wages super low keeping people poor. 6 safety, yes Colombia can be very dangerous at times, petty crimes from both Colombians and venezuelans, it's impossible to blend because as a foreigner you're always a target, that pushes one to live in an expensive neighborhood as oppose to a middle class one to save money. 7 Colombians are natural liars, it's a normal cultural thing there, at some point expect to get screwed by taxis, Ubers, even bars and clubs and they are very united in doing petty things. 8 depending on the city it can get quite boring because many places close early and Colombians like to stay home. 9 the women, yes they are very beautiful but not very ambitious, don't expect much in terms of doing a business together or her helping with much except for domestic things, they have a big ego and fell very entitled (princess syndrome) highest single mother rate in the WORLD at 82%. As a man you're expected to provided for everything not just the basics, I'm talking about things she seen on tik tok, the mall etc, expect to be cheated on with her ex that's hiding in the background. It's a disloyal premiscuous culture where cheating is somewhat normal and expected. they like foreigners for what they can provide and for status upgrade but at heart they love and want their own men. 10 poor health care, get your own private insurance but expect to pay around $150 monthly minimum. But to be fair any out of pocket procedures such as dental or cosmetics is quite affordable. I paid $500 usd for a root canal and had four wisdom teeth removed. Braces are super affordable as well as whitening. 11 lazy, don't expect anything done fast or logically there, Colombians can be quite passive and lazy, they love short cuts and fast money with little effort thus creating mass corruption, prostitution, and selling dugs and scammers. 12 internet, i use to pay for the best and fastest service yet it always crashed and disconnected meaning you don't get what you paid for. At $90 usd monthly.......... unacceptable. 13 transportation. Ride share apps such as uber and Driver are screwing the drivers there with pay so expect your ride request to take a while to get accepted because most drivers are rejecting it, other drivers will accept the request, not move and stay parked just to eat the cancelation fee which is annoying and costly. This can make you late getting places. Also it can get quite expensive in the big cities especially with Uber. I once paid $33 usd at rush hour to get across Bogota. That the same as in the USA. If you choose to pay with cash they never have change which is a lie to profit. The taxis are no better either and you can get robbed in a taxi more easily. Those were the cons but obviously there were some good as well that I didn't list like weather, slow pace, very good restaurants, cozy feel especially when it rains, cheap tickets to fly anywhere in the Colombia, the contrast of the different cities from Cartagena which is like Miami to Bogota which is like Europe in a sense to Medellin which is alot of fun. Just do your research and ask people who are from there or lived there.

Buen dia

@libremercado6078 19 сағат бұрын

I like the point that you made, most Nigerians don’t think we are better than FBAs or any other nationalities. We want good things for ourselves and also other blacks across the diaspora. It seems with the raise of FBA distinctions and tether name calling black Americans are insulating themselves and causing extreme divisions which protract us from the war and who we should be fighting against. I grew up reading with a pan African stance, thinking the target was racism and anti black sentiment. In the last few years, I discovered the biggest problem for us is misandrists and black male & female relationship dynamics. Now with nationalism coming from FBAs adding fuel to the fire. It seems the best thing to do is support only my ancestral lineage and people regardless of colour, that share my human values. It’s wild to me that I or any other non FBA will be called a tether for not thinking and following an uninitiated black American mindset. This is clearly a sign that the west and everything in it is imploding and in decline.
