Spain was superior in all aspects to England. England can count itself lucky to be only 1 goal behind. They played some decent football in the minutes after the second Spanish goal, when their strategy of park the bus and go for pens shattered. Spain on the other hand played with passion the whole game, like if they were behind from the beginning and giving it all to catch up, except they were never behind, even if the draw felt like being left behind and losing. Anything can happen in a football match and anyone can win anything against anyone, and fairness does not exist. But by the numbers, Spain was undoubtedly the winner and deservedly so. I already said back then that the Spain-Germany was the real final, and whoever won was probably going to win the whole thing.

You guys expect what SOuthgate or the English can't give. All the "special" players in the English squad that you mentioned (Palmer, Bellingham, Saka etc) are all coached by spaniards or foreigners so it is natural for the Spaniards to play good football because Spain have the DNA, irrespective of the clubs / leagues they play in or age of the players. There wasn't much between the teams, it came down to bravery on the ball, Spain had it when the game was 1-1 in the second half. I watched this final as a neutral fan, but being Italian I always find it hard to sympathize for England (nothing against the player, it's mainly due to arrogance of their fans). That said, when people criticize England's "conservative" approach to big international matches nobody considers this aspect: english players are constantly under an insane amount of pressure, because of the lack of trophies and fan culture, and I think that the pressure builds up even more when the squad is good/favorite to win. Most of the starting 11 play in incredible teams and are used to dominating games, yet they don't show that same confidence when playing for the national team. While I don't think Southgate is a great manager, blaming him for the players' attitude is not entirely fair. There's clearly a mental block, due to the pressure these guys feel when they play internationally.

The midfield of Spain is so good and so strong, while England didnt even know who their midfield was till game 3! Foden is useless, Kane was poor, Southgate trying to fit them all is not how a team functions, Spain everyone fits well, everyone is pumped and strong on and off the ball, and a squad full of talent all over that know their role!!

As a Spaniard I'm happy for the victory but I feel that England needs to win something soon. I grew up watching the PL and I'm surprised at how Southgate got decent better results than previous managers, but made the team play horribly, like they were a 3rd tier team wasting brilliant players like Palmer and Foden. He tried to play like Greece in 2004 but he failed once more

And don’t forget that England had easy parts to the 2018 World Cup semi final and the 2020, 2024 Euro finals. The only time they played a top team enroute to the final was against France in the 2022 WC quarter finals and England duly went home early

Southgate has to manage the fact that English football season is much longer than other countries in Europe. Puts them at a disadvantage. Other reason England lost to Spain is that Spain’s league is more based upon passing and keep ball. A real depth of talent always with Spain due to their youth system.

One for the record guys,... Luke Shaw, was bloody outstanding last night ..he was fighting his heart out last night , while Kane and Bellingham were a huge handicap for the entire team. These 2 should be booted out!! What can I say about Palmer, F***n Outstanding would be bang on! Southgate had loads of other great players he never used , unbelievable!!! Foden was also bloody awesome!! Saka, I just love this guy he always plays every game at the top of his game last night he ran his legs off while Kane and Bellingham failed him !!! That was terrible! Overall, England coming 2nd was a lucky result... considering the lackluster performance but I blame this totally on bloody Southgate!!! England need to bring on new young blood who are Hungry to win win win , so first let's get a new manager like Harry R. Never mind there will be another day to fight Spain but first let's get a hell of a team together that's plays as one like Spain!!!! England don’t hold possession because as a country they coach players to hold possession and to be technical. They train them to move the ball fast and quickly. The prioritise young players who are tall, strong and quick. They do not prioritise technical players at all. That’s a big reason why they don’t hold possession with purpose. Also England very rarely produce players that can dictate games like Rodri, Xavi, iniesta, fabregas that can dictate games. If a team wants to control the game they need players on a technical level that can control the game. Rice is a typical English midfielder who’s box to box but struggles technically unless he’s surrounded by technical like he is at arsenal.
