If you want a quick dry fly pattern that simply works, this is one that should not be looked past. Small, buoyant, and easily visible, this Spanish-style CDC dry fly is one that may just save you from getting skunked on a tough day.
The fly was originally tied as a part of a bunch for Lithuanian competitors in the World Championship this year, however, it turned out to be a killer pattern everywhere you go!

Interesting, I’m going to try some. Just one question: Is there some functional reason for tying in the cdc in this unusual way? On the face of it I would expect to be able to create the same effect with a good tuft of stripped cdc fibres tied in at the head and then divided with the floss. Not a criticism, maybe if I try it I’ll get it.

I have tried both ways and the only difference I found is that tying the wing this way ended up being slightly faster and slightly less messy than preparing clumps of fibers. This way is also better for using up slightly smaller feathers. As for function, the end result seems to be the same tied either way. Hope they end up working well for you!
