Thanks for this brilliant series Lance--------mind you, I wish I'd had this to refer to 20 odd years ago when I'd bought a TVO 20 in bits. Thankfully it was all there and I only had to buy new rings, shells, gaskets etc and I must have done it right because it;s still running fine today. Thanks for sharing, from a geriatric old fart in Ireland.

Another great series Lance...I'm back in another 14 days quarantine, so these are a brilliant way to fill my days. We did a TEF 20 a few years back and it did not have the offset bottom ends.....what a ball ache that was to fit the pistons/rings and liners back together - it really tested me and my brother, but we got there in the end. That would make a great video is you ever get one in your shed

why new liners before measuring may of got away with a hone and new rings ????

Possibly but Sparex supplied a kit for me to fit. It was dusted badly though.

Hi Lance. Is the oil pump key driven from the distributor replaceable from the distributor side, rather then having to remove the sump again. ?

Yes the gear and shaft comes upwards after removing the distributor.

Mr. Bear, do you know if the main bearing caps are supposed to have locating dowels just like the con rod bearing caps? On my tea-20 the main bearing cap lacked dowels.

Great video Lance - more terrific tips. Question - my '52 has a bit of a clunk under load (on that poor No. 4 as far as I can tell). Assuming no major crank journal damage, is it possible to tap the old bearing shells out from underneath without pulling the head and pistons then slide new ones in the same way? Thought I might try the cheapest solution first....😬. If the crank is indeed flat enough to warrant machining or replacement I figure the unhappy sounds will be back in short order....

Yes no problem doing that, just don't let the piston come down too far in case the bottom ring pops out the bottom. Im not sure if it can happen on these engines but just be aware of it as it can stuff up your whole day.
