There are several vertical garment steamers that have written in their descriptions "one-year lifespan." Are all garment steamers like that or just those ones? And is that short lifespan related to the fact that it's a vertical steamer?

What is the difference between Philips model GC487 and GC 523 model? Both are upright model? Which one is recommended?
