This is an update to my earlier video. It seems there is an easier way to open this amp up, my sample the knob was stuck on pretty good and I didn't want to destroy something I have never worked on before. I get some of you have worked on devices like this before, I've never worked on one of these and was going in blind.
I do appreciate the folks who kindly commented to try removing the knob, which with some effort did come off without breaking anything. To the dozen+ people who posted rude abusive comments, welcome to my block filter :)
You can buy this amp from my affiliate link here:

It has no bearing on my review and I make so little off this affiliate program, I would never lower my standards to hype products for clicks...

No need to apologize for not knowing/using the most straight-forward way, you found a way that worked, just by yourself - well done! - Also for demonstrating the dedicated method.

I try not to think about the many times I have broken things trying to carefully disassemble them. You didn't damage it the first time through. That is much more important than the fact that your method was not quite as efficient as others.

Thanks for the update! This avoids the hurdle of soldering - which makes it doable by more folks!

As the poster said before. I have ruined a number of things in my diy lifetime but none of it was recorded and nobody knew but me. I think people who enjoy posting cruel comments are just immature. Maybe they will grow out of it one day.

Re-applying the thermal compound grease would be prudent. Without proper heat transfer from the amplifier chip to the case (which acts as a heat sink), the unit’s lifespan will be in question. Heat is not the friend of electronic components.

@SkunkieDesignsElectronics Ай бұрын
I opened it back up to look, there is no thermal compound grease from the factory. Not a bad idea to add some!

It would be nice if they were going to put something like replaceable opamps in there, they would put a little 2 inch square panel on the bottom held by 1 screw that gives access to the sockets.

@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics that encourages the nerds like us, not discourages. "No user-serviceable parts inside", "warranty void if seal broken", whatnot... Whenever I see that, I'm gonna say: don't be a normie, take the risk, void that warranty, tinker with it :)

Thank you for the video. I was wondering about having to desolder the binding posts the last video, but it just goes to show there is more than one way to do something; both worked, this is is easier. Regarding nasty commenters....I think it's just awful. I hope we can move towards being more civil to each other in the coming years, but I am worried. It's amazing how mean people can be to each other behind a computer.

I've blocked 4 users today responding to this video. I honestly don't understand this whole internet bully mindset, but it seems to be getting worse. It feels like making videos about these cheap SS amps is just drawing parasites to my channel.

Cool! Glad you worked through it! I’m the same, I don’t like to just yank on stuff and break it! Really hope you can get a hold of the Staccato op amps and compare….

They also sell OP-AMP extenders, just a note also use a different brand that are tuneable but the height won't fit in that Amp but you can make a personal house SOUND. Tuneable as in a small pot on the board of the OP-Amp maybe Sparkos can integrate that feature in the future

@Skunkie. Sorry to hear about the lashback you got from "the perfect people" out there. It is shocking how there are people that have nothing better to do. I just say that there is always more than one way to skin a cat and frankly, if the speaker wires were lengthened as per your first method so you can slide the panel through sideways, that would be the best way, IMHO. Might be a good idea to lengthen the wires for anyway that wants to try different op amps regularly. I don't know if you are going to do so, but there are the Burson Op-Amps to try as well. These are much taller though and don't fit very well in most cases. I think they will fit in the A70 though. I am curious if you are going to also review some of the Fosi amplifiers. I am curious to hear your take on the ZA3, which is very similar to the A70.

Sorry to hear of the toxicity in the comments section. It was easy for me to 2nd guess not removing the volume knob from my reclining chair, but as you point out…had I made the connection it was a push control, and had actually tugged on it, I probably would have done the same thing. So often when working on things, I swing out men at work lyrics..”It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake!” After I force something that should not have been forced.

Yup, I destroyed the touch pad on my laptop once prying off something that wasn't supposed to be. For me it was much safer to just unsolder a few wires. It's foreign to me to think soldering wires sends some people into a panic!

Har! I see you gaining interest in this tech, even as you deny it.😂 Keep it up. Broaden your horizons. Maybe this Tech can be of use in places? Might we see class D replace driver tubes someday?

@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics Me too. In another type of tech, I replace the solar LED lights on my back porch with a kerosene fired hurricane Lantern. It's charming as hell and works much better than the leds. But the LED lights that I installed over my kitchen counters are just about perfect.

I don't blame you for not knowing the "correct" disassembly method as it isn't immediately obvious given that all the screws are on the back panel.

I have opamps in one of my head-phone amps, may need to get myself some discrete one's to try out. Sparkos seems fine, I also hear good things about the Burson opamps. Any thoughts? Well both methods to get inside the amp worked, latter one a bit neater , we can agree on that!

I have an old Matrix M Stage HP amp with an upgraded class A opamp…a few years ago I bought the Burson Vivid 6 Dual opamp for fun to see how much better the sound became. I honestly didnt get much of a change..not worth the extra $$ in this case, but it might do in other amps of course. Im just trying to lower your expectations. I might try the Sparkos as well for fun

It's a nicely built unit, I like the long hex standoffs between panels. About The Most Hated Tool On The Channel - if you take good care not to damage the coat, it's fine. I sometimes use a vise-grip when I need to, though a socket or box wrench is preferred. People with no content of their own except offensive comments... Yeah, that's kinda true. Every transhphobic bigot on my channel was like this. They're covering their faces behind a mask of anonymity. If they exposed themselves through their videos, they'd be more reluctant and not as eager to spread their toxicity.
