The Belvoir estate is the new home for Spartan Midlands, after a number of years at Market Harborough. Incidently, this is the same location for Tough Mudder (same company different brands) which was on a week later.
This video is from Sunday 2nd July on the 10.30 wave for the Super race (I ran the Sprint later in the afternoon)
The Super is the middle distance (around 10km) and personally my favourite distance for Spartan. This was the "open" wave, where penalties for failure are encouraged, but not mandatory. Fortunately there were not burpee penalties either!
A relatively flat course, with some highlights being Ape Hanger over water, a horrible sandbag carry under a cargo net and a VERY muddy Rolling Mud.
Nice multi-rig to finish, but I couldnt keep hold of the rope at the end!

Just what I needed! 👍 Now I know what to expect. A few days ago I've signed up for next year's Super in Grantham. Not sure if going for 10k instead of 5k, as my first Spartan race was the best decision, but hey, give me that extra challenge please 😅 Can't wait 😁😁 but until then a few marathons are waiting in line 🤦💪 Thanks for the video & congrats for finishing! 👍💪🙂

10km is the right distnace - 5km is too short (even for a first race) but the beast is defintiely too long for your first one. You'll love it!

how do you train for something like this? id like to do it

"train" is a very subjective word. But if you want to prepare for one, I'd suggest any form of "functional fitness" type gym classes. I really enjoy doing bootcamps / rig classes wheres there's things like box jumps, farmers carries, etc etc.
