Pete, thanks for the honest review. After watching your video , I decided to go purchase this “beast” and I was very pleased after mowing the first time. The cut quality is awesome and it cuts just as good as my Ferris. Thanks brother 💯

i see far too many folks changing the oil searching for a drain plug and pan.......i always use a vacume suction system with a long clear flex tube that is inserted down into the fill tube entering the crankcase. No mess very fast, wish more people would do the same will save alot of time

I bought the 61 version of one of these at auction for a couple k off retail and didnt know what to expect. Cuts as good or better than the 2 scags i have and i love the seat

Pete, Spartan makes an upgraded front caster with Shocks and a fender to help prevent the casters from throwing grass on the deck . Hustler also makes a front caster that flexes.. I run them on my Hustler and they are awesome.

Fantastic review Pete! I'm almost sold on the spartan. I think the ease of access to that belt could be better, as well as the oil change. I'm really, really gratified to see you going into such details as clippings dispersal...as well as everything else. I'm going into my 29th season running a landscaping business and I was taught the business over 30 years ago by a guy who was an ex-science teacher, so you can imagine he had the same passion for details as you. So it's just great to see someone on youtube finally treating these machines as "grounds maintenance" machines rather than just "field mowers" in a review series. I can't get enough of these, and I'm looking forward to your crews reviews as well.

Happy Spring Pete!! I wish Spartan would've sent you the model with front suspension. One advantage with the deck lift lever at your right foot is to be able to lift the deck on the fly to clear roots, rocks ect. without removing hands from controls or stopping to lift the deck . I do agree when you said your foot hits the lever when on a sloop but watching your stance on flat terrain your foot stance was inside not hitting the lever. The control panel is marine grade with no issue with getting it wet to wash the machine and has a maintenance screen to show your hours/ oil change oil schedule plus as important to show engine RPM make sure 3600 rpm for proper hydro performance and cut quality.

Kubota's Z700 series mowers use Parker hydros, which have cartridge style filters that screw into the hydro case. I would assume it is something similar on this mower.

When you get to the Ferris, know that their suspension is under patent and that's why other mowers don't have that suspension, they have to work around it.

I have a kg for 2 years and because of the discharge I have never cleaned the deck even in wet grass and it's still clean like new.

Iv owned this mower for a year, its slowed down a little in speed, and the only thing i dont like it that the wheels lock up and you slide when you go down a steep hill

I'm pretty sure when I was at the equip expo they said there was an adjustment for the control levers to be less stiff.

There sit on zero truns have a sprung shocks suspension option maybe that stand on one has the same 😅

one thing i noticed pretty quick is you're probably not going to be replacing a deck belt without letting the mower cool off. Unless you want to risk burning your arm on the muffler

I use a Spartan getting between the cut quality of a Toro and the toughness of a Hustler. Would watch out for the blade bearings though….

With the side discharge flap down did it change the dispersion of clippings?

Yea, it seems like these mower companies want us to adjust the mower height after we get the mower. It's a little disappointing to spend 3000, 4000 dollars and then adjust the height. Hmmmmm if that's the case.

Why use a stand on since they are so uncomfortable. Wouldn’t a regular zero turn be better?

No offense briggs engines are junkie Kohler engine are more reliable engines 1989. My dad had 12 .5 command pro it started every day every time
