The worst part about GTA V is that they abandoned the single player mode the second that the online borefest hit big. At the very least, they could have added the 500 cars they've added into online, into the single player too, but nope. Playing GTA V on PS5 today is the same exact experience it was on the PS3 day 1. Just with a better resolution.

Not worse at all. As a gamer and equities investor, I welcome whatever makes money for Take2 and if it is at the expense of story DLC, so be it. Can’t complain about my financial returns from my investments in Take2 over the last 12 or so years. Can’t blame them for the success of GTA ONLINE. Business is business. Dog eat dog.

Nintendo will just make new Gamecube controllers without NSO Gamecube because I just still feel like they would never put Gamecube games as part of a streaming service, when they are already making multiple Gamecube ports, remasters, and remakes for higher prices

Eh, there are still a bunch of GCN games from Nintendo’s own catalog that they will probably never bother remaking. Iterative titles like Mario Kart Double Dash or Smash Bros Melee, more obscure stuff like Geist or Chibi-Robo, or just less popular games like Star Fox Adventures that wouldn’t sell as a regular release. Adding those games to NSO would just increase the value significantly at no cost to Nintendo, and they can still do full remakes/remasters for the heavy hitters.

Speaking of GameCube, I really wish Nintendo had released Luigi Mansion 1 HD alongside Luigi's Mansion 2 HD. Well, what can you do? At least we have 2 and 3 on there. I'm playing Luigi's Mansion 2 HD right now and I'm having so much fun.

@@TakisEnjoyer Definitely won't happen. The original Luigi's Mansion was already remastered on the New 3DS and Nintendo typically don't double-dip when it comes to remastering. There's maybe a handful of games that come to mind that ever got that treatment. Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario World and Xenoblade Chronicles. Anything else have just been simple ports. I'd expect to see it on GameCube NSO eventually. Edit: Link's Awakening as well

Even though Luigi’s Mansion had a remake/remaster for 3ds, they would have to remaster it again, cuz the graphics from 3ds to Switch are very different, as well as the emulation. Even though they were working on LM2, it would take a whole other team to work on the first LM. And, as someone else mentioned, it was just remade in 2018, that’s too recent for Nintendo to work on it again.

Disregard the other comment I made, didn't realize DS games were playable on one screen on the Wii U. Although that makes it handheld-only. On Wii U you had the option to play on the TV with the second screen being on the gamepad. With a Switch you don't have that option. It'd be possible if they updated the next system's dock so that the Switch can stream to the TV via the dock, but that's more money than Nintendo would want to spend only to make DS games playable.

@@egymagnet I doubt a second screen but magnetic joycons seem more likely for having full backwards compatiblity with their retro handhelds. Nintendo really is dragging their feet with anything regarding Switch 2.

I think Game Cube NSO makes sense for more niche games that don't quite deserve remake or remaster, but fans want to revisit. 1080° Avalanche, Kirby Air Ride, Chibi Robo, Double Dash, etc

@@GameDadGrant it was just an example of games I would like to see that probably won't get a remaster. Tho I would say MKDD can be called relatively niche, it has a pretty different gameplay from other games in the series and was the second worst game in the series when it comes to sales so not that many people have nostalgia for it. And so it appeals to a pretty specific audience that is not as big as casual players that bought MK8

Square Enix doesn’t do cross-buy for FFXIV. If you want to play on console, then go out and play on your laptop, you have to buy different versions of the game. Having a mobile port of the game seems like they’ll want to make it cross-buy, because the mobile market doesn’t like upfront payments for games as much.

The main thing I’d be interested in with XIV on phones is the idea of being able to do the more casual stuff- gathering, crafting, etc- anywhere. And you can do cross-save as is, from PS to XB to PC to Mac- but each of those uses separate licenses, unfortunately. To me it feels more realistic that a new FF MMO would be something immediately mobile-friendly, and it feels reasonable to imagine something branching off the already successful FF14 platform.

Further console additions to NSO have a few concerns: * processing power, file size * desire to first harvest the fertile ground for remasters before offering emulated versions for a subscription cost * the need to have some new console additions left in the table so they can continue making new big splashes in the lifecycle of the successor (and also lock them behind the new hardware as an upgrade incentive). So yeah, I expected that Nintendo would stop at N64/GBA for Switch, harvest all the remaster/remake cash it can from GC/DS, and then use GC/Wii/DS/3DS as the value addition for the new successor. There is a rumor the successor has a wider aspect ratio. If so, maybe they can do some kind of split screen layout for DS/3DS, which wouldnt be great on the current Switch screen.

XIV jobs have around 32 buttons to press for skills at max level I have no idea how they could translate it to a phone while having parity with PC You could plug a controller but that's a weird requirement

I have difficulty seeing Nintendo adding GameCube to NSO honestly. It really seems like they would rather upscale/remaster them and trickle them out as individual retail releases like they've done with Metroid Prime, Paper Mario TTYD, and Pikmin 1+2.

@@BetweenTheLyons if it happens, big “IF” - what makes you think serves won’t get updated to function offline? F zero 99 is an arcade racer that can definitely function as a standalone offline arcade game. It has plenty content for a price tag worth 30 dollars.

I don't think Gamecube alone is enough for a price hike, but if they did Gamecube + something else it might work out. The previous expansion came with Sega Genesis and access to different DLCs in current titles. The most exciting option would be for them to bring DS games to the service, but that is maybe more unlikely.

Final fantasy 14 runs it's expansions in increments of 10 levels, the base game going to level 50. You can now play the 2nd expansion for free, up to level 70. The game is subscription based, and will not remove the subscription when they're at their highest subscriber numbers ever. The game needs to be purchased, as well as each dlc/expansion, per device. Own it on PC? Want to play on Playstation as well? You have to buy the game again. The servers are identical on every platform, so cross save isn't only available, but it's technically not even a thing. You don't cross save, you just save to a service account that is shared between every platform. There is no need to cross save.

I really wish I could buy NSO retro games al la carte because some of those games (like Rare's stuff or even some of Capcom's stuff) won't necessarily be there forever so having the option to buy something like Perfect Dark or Goldeneye or Banjo Kazooie to permanently have on my switch would be a nice option in case those games get delisted in the future

8:17 how about a wireless standard gamecube controller with rumble and a Wavebird controller with Rumble and additional buttons. Third parties have been making them for years I'm sire nintendo could figure it out. Currently I'm happy with my Nyxi Controller

The Wavebird controller is God-tier. I've recently been using my 23 year-old Wavebird to replay through Prime 2 Echoes and it's still in great shape. Looks and plays just like it did when I bought it. Nintendo engineers their controllers with the build quality of a tank.

I have a Wavebird, and I totally love it don't get me wrong, but the Nyxi Warrior has been the best GameCube controller I've used so far, I think. The whole "no rumble" thing is really a deal breaker in games when using the Wavebird.

Whoo hoo! Ys got mentioned! One of my all time favorite series! Ys XIII was the best one and Ys IX was awesome on PS4. Highly recommend those on either current PS or PC. And Ys X is very likely a day one purchase for me!

RuneScape and Oldschool RuneScape have been on mobile for several years and they keep the same subscription model that they have on PC. I think it definitely works because it works more to pull people into the desktop version of the game but allows them to play it on the go when they want

as an ffxiv player, not sure how xiv mobile would work. they just updated the graphics with 7.0, i upgraded my pc to run it better. not sure what a good touch screen control scheme would be, there are a lot of hud elements to manage, and each job has roughly 30 different moves to use on different buttons, not to mention movement. i can only imagine the groans when you realize your party member is playing on mobile, doesn't have half they buttons mapped, and can't see the mechanics around their thumbs. ping would be an issue as well. also, you would probably have to buy the mobile version separately. i think it's more likely that a spinoff releases

Wassup Jon(SW). Mario x Rabbids: Sparks of Hope Trial is dedo worth checking out guys. Very cool Update for F-Zero99. Ys X Nordics is looking pretty decent. Classic GC Games heading too the Switch Online Service would be amazing and the Price undoubtedly would have too go up. A New WaveBird GC Controller would be awesome but Nintendo would probably do a Standard GC Controller instead. FF14 on Mobiles is gonna make a ton of Money for SE and Tencent. Good Start for the PS4 Emulator and Bloodborne is defo the way too go. I am surprised they didn't have a small Team working on the DLC for GTAV. Nice Poll, I am sorted of 50/50, I'm not an avid Statue Collector but have gotten some in the past etc. Great Question, yh that would be a good Option, especially for people who don't want the Online Service, hopefully it'll be an Option with the Switch 2.

Honestly I think people are overreacting over the PS4 emulator progress. To get to a working state, they need to replicate the functionality of the system calls in the OS. They just happened to implement a lot of the calls that gets that game to that particular state. That's nothing to go crazy about in the grand scheme of things, they still have a long way to go.

Even though I already have multiple options for wireless gaming on the OG Gamecube, including a Club Nintendo Wavebird, I would definitely order a fresh one directly from Nintendo. However, that thing isn't going to be in stock for months, with only scalpers on eBay being able to sell them at fantasy prices. I just know it.

I can't see the full FF14 game working on mobile. Possibly a bunch of the noncombat stuff can be made to work that way but a hotkey mmo doesn't sound like something you could do on a touchscreen. They'd have to make the inputs far simpler and there's been discourse already about the game getting a bit too easy.

My guess is that the new Switch will have better support for vertical mode and will have DS for Switch Online at launch. GC games cam be released for full price, we're not getting them for free.

The whole cross progression thing, it will HAVE to be a thing. You can already go from pc to ps5 to ps4 to xbox and etc and all your specific save data is there. Which makes sense its all housed on the servers. The only thing on your device is the whole character and system preferences. But your actual save data is on the server. The bigger issue I think is running into the file size. FFXIV is 100 GB at this point. And while the free to play model will certainly work through stormblood i.e. 200-500 hours worth of story, assuming you dont just skip thatll keep people busy. But I don't see them offering "cheaper" product codes for the phone. Meaning mobile users either need to accept theyre moving to pc/console or be prepared to drop $20-$40 for product codes. And of course because theyre different market places itll be "apple codes" "android codes"

I love the F4F statues! If they’re kept in good condition, they manage to retain their value. I agree with Jon; they’re great if you’re a fan of the game(s) that they’re from, and F4F tends to put out quality work.

FFXIV has naturally built in Cross-Save/Cross-Progression. You could always go from PlayStation Consoles to PC and back again.

My thought with XIV on Mobile is less the fact it's on Mobile, and more the possibility that this is Square's way of updating the game's ancient spaghetti code. I can't imagine the game as it is now could be easily ported, so if they have to rework it from the ground up for Mobile, it might double as a chance to finally update the PC version to allow better compatibility and updating for future versions.

If the Ys series had some performance issues on the Switch then I'll pick it up on the PS5 instead. Come to think about it I have Ys 1 and 2 on Steam but I haven't played it yet. I didn't have a very good experience with wireless controllers on the GameCube. 12:11 Did the emulator crash? I haven't really been collecting Amiibo. I would pick one up occasionally. I had to get a card for the Skyward Sword one thanks to scalpers. I got a lot of Zelda Amiibo cards but I do have some physical ones. I think my most recent one is Rehydrated Ganon.

It's actually kind of rare for Nintendo to patch games. So that plus F-Zero not getting much support ... Of course people are excited. I think Nintendo should make a new F-Zero game. GTA5 has been going on for too long. DLC ... It's fine at this point that they're not working on it. They should move to GTA6. Heck they could do a GTA4 Definitive Edition.

The WaveBird didn't have Rumble at a time that was getting very good. I would buy a WaveBird if Nintendo re-released it AND added Rumble in to it, but otherwise a wireless OEM/Factory standard GameCube Controller--just like the N64, SNES and NES controllers--would be better. Plus I have like 3 Power A wireless pro controllers that look like gamecube controllers anyway.
