So hard to know if it was a hoarder situation / ransacked / or just so old the person either didn't care or didn't have the means or their mind to handle things. Just sad. I'm getting old and these video's make me want to cry. Gonna give everything away the MINUTE I think my mind starts to slip.

I'm loving watching your Explores, and the way you make it feel like we're all there with you. I just wanted to also say, when you find old prices on things, it's in Old Money ? So 2d is Twopence, that's 2 old pennies. And if it's Shillings, it's 2s, it's shown by the small letter s after the number, hope that helps 😊 Yes, I'm old enough to remember all those things !! 2 Shillings and 6 pence would be written like 2s 6d, or 2/6

Cathy S I totally feel you on this! How can all of that history just rot? I know it's the law. Just sayin it's a dumb law! As an avid reader of anything I can get my grubby lil paws on, it seriously hurts my heart to see them just..rotting 💔! To someone who doesn't know the absolute joy one can get from reading an actual book, our feelings are not understood. They say get it digitally, it's the same thing. Nope...it's really not, not even close. Sure the stories are the same, usually. Sometimes the author changes things. That makes the book worth more. Aside from monetary value, there's the value of the book itself. Just makes me so sad 😥

I totally agree, what a waste of wisdom, insight, creativity, imagination. Someone's experiences. So it just decays until someone comes along and puts a bulldozer to it and destroys all of it. If we do don't remember the past we will be Destined to repeat it Have we as a world not learned anything 😢 We as a world have lost so much. 💔

@@AdamMark Amazing explore as always. I didn't get a 'dark' or 'eerie' vibe from this place. 3 interesting points for you, all the religious pictures, large crucifix (silver Jesus in bedroom) should be attached to that, the wooden trophy plaques for chess competitions at trinity college Ireland, show its a old Irish woman that lived there, like a down to earth warm welcoming grandma type (Irish mammy). With the children's toys in the conservatory area, they are kept there and then brought out to be played with when the grandchildren come round to visit her. With the necrophonic, it said play, come here etc so it sounds like she is sad/upset, that she just wishes she could see her family again, also it mentioned dying/die, an when you asked how she died it said, drink/gin, which was a massive sign as you was stood with your back to the Irish cream/gin bottles, so unfortunately I think she might of been suffering with a long term illness and just got to the point of being so fed up with being ill/old, that she might of taken some sleeping tablets and drank some gin so that she passed away peacefully.

I don't know but I do know from my job working with older people that it's not uncommon for people to get taken into care quickly and die with no family or friends.
@marckentzer1435
@marckentzer1435 2 жыл бұрын
@@JJ-iq8mi just going to say the same, also if someone passes away without making a will, I know that heir hunters do try to track down remaining family members of the deceased person to inform them an sort out financial aspects of things (then the heir hunters who've done the work tracking down family members/extended family take a percentage of the total value of assets, but I also thought that if a house is left in a 'unoccupied' state basically derelict for a certain period of time that it goes back to the state since no one claimed it (in this case the state would the uk government/uk treasury) unless the laws have changed I'm not sure, that's why I can't work out how there is so many unoccupied derelict houses etc of the people, I presume that buildings such as hotels/schools/hospitals etc differ as they're commercial properties and houses are classed as domestic.

Morning Mark. A good walk about this house. The cupboard in the kitchen was designed and mass produced in the early 1930's / 1940'. It was called Utility furniture ( wardrobes, bedroom furniture etc were made out of cheap wood. Not meant to last but 80 plus years a lot of it is still in use 😀) The 4 Wicker/straw containers were for putting plants in, Spider plants and other trawling the internet for plants. As for the 100's of books just left. That's such a pity and sadly, most couldn't be re-used due to their condition. This has spurred me on to ' cull ' our large Book collection so, Charity shops I'll be visiting you today 🙂

When I See This Place the first thing that comes to mind is how much some young working-class couple with a few children would absolutely love to have a little house like this. And with housing becoming less available in Great Britain places like this could make a difference. The local Town Council takes over the house checks it to make sure that it's safe and and then partner up with a company in a program where the future tenant would be required to put in a certain amount of Sweat Equity, like the habitat houses that are Built in the US. This way a person can learn a little plumbing and a little electricity just enough to maintain his house and a Family that may be doomed to live in a cramped apartment could have a nice little house with a garden for the children.
@junemoonchild69

This idea of yours is a Good one, it seems like you have a way already thought well through, to start this type of program... I encourage you to try and find some way to present this plan to any of the people who would be able to make it possible, even just to "plant a seed" for the future. 😊💫💛

Pretty neat place! Thank you for sharing your adventures! So much stuff left behind. It’s a shame the family didn’t come get anything.

I'm going to be doing some "Swedish Death Cleaning" , starting with my books. I don't want to burden my children with these things. My dad is 90 and my Mom just passed away 6 months ago and my sisters and brother and I have a MASSIVE clean out looming. NONE of us are looking forward to that. My Dad called me yesterday to tell me he bought a new bath mat. I asked him "So....what are ya gonna do with the old, ragged one?!" He actually had some ideas! I said "Throw it out! PLEASE!!" LOL Depression mindset, indeed... another great video, Adam, thank you!

9:35 that's called a carpet sweeper. 17:15 they look like plant hangers. I love coming across places like this, where everything is left behind, but they always leave me with so many questions.

This was a nice find, Adam. All those books could've been gives to charity shops. That appliance that you rested the walking cane on wasn't a washing machine, it was a tumble dryer. Amazing fibd

Another fab explore. I had a really sad vibe watching it though and I'm sure there was "someone" in the living room when you went looking round. It's horrid seeing all those books left to rot too.

I think the "boy Annabelle" doll would be called "Andybelle". There were dolls (here in the USA) when I was a kid that were called Raggedy Anne & Andy. Another great investigation, Adam! Thanks for always bringing us along!

If they are just looking for the sake of looking and nothing more then why destroy a life times work belonging to some one else - a little bit of respect goes a long way.
