the league should be names after this man and his father. every single kid who plays basketball in australia - has their DNA come from this mans father. there was a time where basketball was seen as a yankee game- and anyone who played it was spurned. i remember wanting to play basketball and being seen as a wannabe- because all the kids played football, rugby or afl. soccer and basketbal were seen as a "wog" ( derogatroy nickname for greeks and italians) games and for basketball ...............- well u can imagine........ the prejudice and underlying racism in this country- was really openly expressed back in the early 90s. even in big metropoliton cities like sydney. thru sports- alot of barriers have been broken down. (amazing how just like in food, music, film- sports can break down barriers that society has) he gave birth to the game in this country and his son inspired every kid- who became the boguts, sam mckinnons , etc , who inspired the next generation - the dellys, the mills, who wil now have a huge quantum leap of inspiration to the next generation - watch the thousands of players who will bloom because of this- and think "i want to play basketball!" instead of say NRL or AFL, etc, etc. thanks to this day- in 10 years time- i really believe that australia will be the biggest producer of NBA talent in the world- outside of America.
