A fresh adventure is on the horizon! Guild Wars 2®: Janthir Wilds™ arrives on August 20, 2024, bringing with it another year of story chapters and content updates. One of the most exciting features is the introduction of a brand-new weapon for each profession: the land spear! While previously available only as an underwater weapon, the spear will be making landfall with all-new skills and abilities for every profession.

i feel like the range will be short but i like having a rifle/bow replacement option as a close to mid range warrior, really excited for this as a berserker warrior main

I wish warrior in particular can wield it one handed too, so I can be a spearman, the most clasic unit throughout history. No reason a weapon master can't wield a spear and shield at the same time.

@@shiveringisles3509 having the same thoughts. Someone pointed out that the spear has two upgrade slots, which would make it stat-wise OP. There should be solutions for it. I wanna see a full paragon, not just a half-baked version. Look at the skills, he barely uses the left hand.

@chimichanga2982 no that's just the stealth animation from.theif perspective, when you stealth it looks like Predator cloaking.

@@pokeylope6108 I am not talking about the thief camouflage. Right before the thief leaves stealth and the reveal symbol (yellow eyes) appears you can see a shadow clone disolving into particles. That usually doesn't happen when thieves go into stealth or leave it.

Paragon's other signature companion weapon is the shield though, with paragon only shields, and they can dual wield with spear. But I like that you can melee with gw2 spear in close range.

Scared me to death when Thief threw it. As much as I liked throwing them in GW1 on Sin/Rit I really don't want a 4th ranged weapon ina row 😌 I also always wanted a lightning/tesla rod for Engi and it was my suggestion for a Staff spec long ago~ I'm surprised it went there. 😀

Waiting to test it on beta, i think that Anet can improve the Engi spear autoattack as the ranger one, with lightning bolt/beam if it is ranged and what we have seen when in melee distance. This because we can't swap and a lot of players likes to play WITHOUT kits --> as full signets Mech or full gyros scrapper, or full elixirs holo. Improving the autoattack with both melee and ranged option could be a smart move to have a smooth gameplay.

Please don't make thief's spear mechanic be obligatory positioning, i thought you had already realized how bad that is as a mechanic for most of the major encounters in the game EDIT: y'know what? after reading the blogpost i sincerely apologize for this coment, i rushed without really having the entire context, and now that i do have it, i want to congratulate whoever was in charge of thief's Spear design, it sounds like a really fun system and i CAN'T WAIT to get my hands on it, really, Kudos to the team, i am super excited for the expac.

now make the thieff combo system baseline for every thieff weapon so we can move on from the spam the number 2 skill this would be the best update for thieff ever and would easily swap my main to thieff if that was the case
