Spearfishing Brisbane - Scarborough Redcliffe Recon Trip (shore dive)

So I have been living in Brisbane for over two years and in that time my spearfishing has been put on hold. With more time and a rekindled passion to get out there, I plan to start exploring what South East Queensland has to offer spearos.
I will start to roll out videos of these trips as I search for new areas and gain an understanding into spearing in this part of the world.
This video is from a recon shore dive trip I did exploring around Scarborough. Was good to get some reasonable visibility and get back into the water!
If you have any tips or tricks for spearing around Brisbane I am all ears.

Keep it up bud, I'm a Redcliffe local, always keen to see underwater footage of the fish I'm struggling to catch haha. Vis clears here up in winter after a good dose of westerlies. Cheers.

@@LiquidAntler I am! Haven’t caught anything yet, but I’ve only gone around Scott’s point working up to go near shields street and Scarborough reef.

Yea nice mate its great getting out and exploring. Summer shore diving is tough with a lot of poor visibilty days. Clears up a lot during winter and a westerly 👌

The fish at 4:05 looks like a gold spotted sweetlip. Not 100% sure though.

Bro nice sweet lip. Checkout ome Rock groin south and out around 50 meters theres a huge bommy with caves galore heaps of structure and fish to chase peace

A few days of westerly winds will give you best chances of decent visibility. Any of the points long Radcliffe and scarborough. There are a couple marine reserves along the peninsula so double check that your clear of thosse 👊

Awesome vid mate! I spear Scarborough fairly often and the vis never seems to get much better than this, even on a good day haha. I second old mates comment, I think the fish at 4:05 was a gold spotted sweetlip as well, unsure though

Are there many sharks in that area? I go spearfishing at the rocks at Shorncliffe sometimes, the water clarity isn't the best and I'm looking for some better areas. Do you know when the water's clearest to go spearfishing up at the peninsula?

I've only seen a couple small sharks. Visibilty is always going to be an issue around Brisbane especially shorediving. Winter time with a westerly is usually going to give you the best vis >7-10m from the shore.

Good morning max depth was 6m. Most was around the 4m mark. Didint want to push out deeper as so much boat traffic.

Redcliffe is the suburb to the south. Will check out a few areas in Redcliffe 🤙

Liquid Antler ...cheers mate, don’t mean to sound like a winger but yes made it hard to watch, hope all goes well with editing in the future, thanks for the reply , I doubt I could make a decent video myself or do any better which is why I don’t make any .
