So much for not diving alone..again
@KeyWestWaterman
@KeyWestWaterman Жыл бұрын
I understand and never condone diving alone, but in my opinion this isn't "diving". I'm not doing "drops" or extended breath holds. Literally swimming around on the surface. Briefly swimming down to the bottom. I have no issue with swimming alone. I'm gonna pin this comment just incase someone is thinking the same thing. Thanks for tuning in 🙏

Sounds a bit cynical to me Edmondd6124. I think Aaron comes across to me as a responsible person, knowing exactly what he is doing.

It's a concern for some of us older folk, accidents happen out of nowhere. We understand you are young n healthy but, please don't push your boundaries just for a video. Something to consider, if you will. Dig all your videos. Love the variety of settings. (Lol, I would not have believed your "fish story " had we not seen your jig. Lol)

I know myself, and my limitations as every individual should but that doesn't mean I'll go where Aaron goes and expect the same results. An individual must use their own head...you know, that melon three feet above their hiney, rump, butt, however you prefer to call it! Aaron isn't condoning diving alone, he's diving where he knows he'll be safe because of his professional experience.

"A man has got to know his limitations." Can you guess that quote Edmond D. I turned 67 the day after Christmas and spent the morning kayak fishing deep in the Louisiana marsh, alone. I know my limitations and I fully appreciate the risk. I don't always wear my auto inflate mustang life jacket, but I do put it on when I stand in the boat and stalk reds, for example. When my time comes to be called home I hope it is while doing something I love like fishing. And when that day comes I don't believe that how good a swimmer you are, how fast you paddle or how deep or shallow you dive makes any difference at all for I trust in providence and in The One who knows that time & place. Aaron is a true professional who knows his limitations and understands the risks of his pursuits.

I used to live in the Lower Keys from 1978 to 1981 and dive and spearfish all the reefs from American shoals to Sand Key, Kingfish Shoals, the Marquesas Keys all the way out to Cosgrove Shoal, Boca Grande Key and the Tortugas. At 72 I can still snorkel but don't dive much anymore. This video brought back some good memories except I don't think I would bleed fish while I'm still in the water... Thank you!

@@KeyWestWaterman Yea it was a special time. Just at the end of old Key West. I was lucky enough to personally know Mel Fisher and Tony Tarracino (Capt. Tony). I even got to meet Jimmy Buffett at a house party once. I did remodeling work in Old Town for a living and helped restore and remodel "many" old conch houses. One of my helpers was an old local, back when I thought someone in their 60's was old, that claims he was a house boy for Ernest Hemmingway...

15:25 I respect you for having that kind of respect for the fish. I love fishing and spear fishing but sometimes I find it hard to go out there and kill the fish. I just have to be in the right mood, some days I don't want to shoot anything and just enjoy the ocean yk? Also, with keeping pet fish I have realised they are so much smarter and personable than a thought and that changed how much compassion I had for them. But knowing that I am just taking what I need and that I am gonna eat the fish and get to share it with my family really helps make me not feel like I'm doing wrong. I appreciate you sharing your mindset with everyone and I hope more people become like you because not enough people have respect for the fish they kill. Also, love the videos man keep it up!

About a dozen years ago I was doing some winter fishing for Chain Pickerel from the kayak. I hooked a nice one but, like your snapper, was on too-light tackle and it took me into some branches. The line snapped and I swore a bit, not least because I worry about leaving tackle in a fish like that. I was back the next day, fishing the same downed tree, and hooked another nice one. Imagine my surprise when I got it to the boat and found my jig from the previous day in its mouth!

Similar thing happened with me on a Cobia on the Bridge. Broke off my Fav Jig around a piling. Later in the day, at slack tide, further down the bridge, I got my friend's son Tyler in the water to shoot his first cobia, shoots a nice one, and right behind it, swims up the cobia with my jig in it's mouth, Tyler starts yelling "your jig your jig" lol. His was our 2nd cobia and limit for the day, so we couldn't do anything about it.

A buddy just turned me on to your channel. I look forward to watching your videos. Finding the lost snapper is cool. I did that on a snook in 10,000 Islands. My fishing partner lost one, got cut off. Next day, one hour later, same tide, same spot, same mangrove, I landed a snook...it was his, we could tell by the unique "worm hook" he was using, still in fishes mouth.

Happy New Year! Love your videos. Can’t wait to get down to the Keys and do some fishing on the flats and around the mangrove islands. Just took delivery of my skiff on Dec. 12th and haven’t even had a chance to get it wet. Keep up the great work.

love all your videos but this one hits my soul. the mangroves are the first place i speared a fish. i go to the lower keyes every year and wish i could be there more. those mangrove images i see in my sleep , and when life gets aggravating i close my eyes and picture the mangroves.

Insane all the opportunity with the network of those mangrove islands. Surprised you didn't film a snook lurking around with all those snapper. Really quality work you produce there Aaron, both on camera and as a tradesmen fisherman. Thanks for taking us along on the ride. It would be so sick just to have the time.... A small bay boat, a cast net, live well full of swimmers Days like this when the wind lays down and you can harvest some grinds. Super sick, finally had the time to sit down and watch Mondays video 🤙🏼👍🏼

I’ve been chasing Michigan white tails for 25 years and have the mounts on the wall to show success and determination. I love the parallels of the old elite snapper and the witty 5 1/2 year old buck, the ultimate game of chess! Good luck getting your jig back 😉
