Forces News has been given special access to a Royal Air Force aircraft delivering crucial aid to earthquake-torn Turkey.
Three RAF aircraft have been helping to deliver Nato's emergency support package following the devastating earthquakes there earlier this month.
Just under 100 tonnes of humanitarian and medical aid has also been flown over by the Royal Air Force in its emergency response capacity.
Forces News reporter Sofie Cacoyannis gained access on board one of the flights.

The aid is not "too late", the majority of the disaster relief occurs in the months... years after such a major disaster. People in Turkey who are displaced will need supplies for years until they begin to rebuild their lives. Disaster relief is usually a huge mess until weeks after the event itself and ordered supply lines begin to materialize. Sending hundreds of tons of supplies to clog up civilian airbases and ports too early only exacerbates the logistics problems of sending and routing manpower to help clear the rubble. For a nation already sending a lions share of military equipment to Ukraine and training a relatively large number of Ukrainian soldiers in country, this is a gallant gesture.

The overall response was definitely too late, however.

No idea why we are scraping the herc C130. Airbus is faster, longer range but cant operate HALO and has a huge signiture for covert ops. .

I am so glad Britishers finally came to their senses as to whom they should help. Turkey is a fellow NATO member. Turkish soldiers gave their lives during Korean war!

Completely meaningless stunt, presumably looking for good publicity. A hired cargo plane would probably have been able to carry a lot more and been cheaper.

Why is it meaningless? The aircraft in the clip can operate in and out of unpaved runways. Something that may have been required. It's also a valuable training sortie.

Comical you think a civilian freighter is cheaper. Clearly you have no idea about aviation.

Well yes maybe a 747 can carry more than an A400M but it cannot use the runways the A400M will have to use. Not sure how you would load a fleet of Land Rovers in a 747 but whatever ....

Well they don't care about us, just our money. People like you come on here yet do nothing but moan and no action. If your not happy do something about it or just be quiet. British people love a good moan all bark and no bite. This nation and it's people have gone to the dogs.

Problem is in the UK people are being stopped from working I have lost £30,000.00 this year and paid NO tax ! But at the same time the NHS waste a lot of money that should be used to treat people and NOT buy new cars, carpets for mangers that are already over paid. Also the NHS needs to stop using the Corona BS to turn people away with other problems that need to be looked at I have a lump growing on my arm and have been turned away from seeing a doctor for two years. Thank you.

@@1chish Well the hand gun ban in three parts of the UK I lost £20,000.00 per year and I still can't rent or buy land because I want to use it for free range hens right now where I live I am only able to keep up to 10 hens when I have orders for 8,000 boxes of eggs each year. There is also the new ban on using wood for cooking and heating so the other year I closed my little sawmill laid off my workers and burned more than £25,000.00 in kindling wood to waste ! Thank you.

@@RJM1011 The 'hand ban' defeated me but if it was a food safety issue related to bird flu well I am all for those controls. Sorry it happened dude but I fail to see what that has to do with us and the RAF helping a country that has lost 50,000 people in major earthquakes.
