Welcome, in this super quick tutorial I want to show you the two versions of the falso dritto that I currently practice and apply during my drills and sparring. So I shot a little close up without any footwork to help you see my hands more clearly.

Love the video! Perhaps seeing the two versions performed in the assalto from the same angle of the instruction part would have also been interesting? But as usual, great work!

So feint a sturzhau and do an aufstreichen. 😊 Love it!
@SchildwachePotsdam
@SchildwachePotsdam 3 жыл бұрын
Usually Marozzo uses it as a counter-thrust in right ochs and then the false edge cut around, but in sparring your idea should work as well :) (though after the Sturzhau, I'd usually go for another right Oberhau^^)

I kept getting distracted by the music! Witcher 3 music was sooo good. Is good stuff, though I consider the second style of cut just a normal true edge unterhau, I should probably double check my terminology though.

Yup, much harder than in the second version. That's a longsword by Peter Regenyei :)
@alexhunt7810

Lovely work. The only issue I have with the second one is that it's a strike with the true edge - buuuut it's super useful to me as a vadiist as it offers an interpretation of how Vadi might have delivered a dritto rotare.
@SchildwachePotsdam
@SchildwachePotsdam Жыл бұрын
Hm, isn't that the same mechanic the german right twerhau is performed and that is considered a false edge cut?^^
@alexhunt7810
@alexhunt7810 Жыл бұрын
@@SchildwachePotsdam not to my understanding. Short edge is the edge facing the thumb in German, which corresponds to false edge in Italian sources. A Twerhau is explicitly a strike with the long edge (a short edge middle-axis cut is usually refered to as a mittelhau)

I'm a beginner. When I throw the false, I find myself naturally rising up into ochs. Is that ok to do? Or do you really need to go back to iron gate?

Hello can I ask you, is it sword from Regenyei armory. I see logo on blade and I want buy that sword too. Please can I ask you about your opinion on this sword. Technick looks good I will try that on nearest training.Thanks
@SchildwachePotsdam
@SchildwachePotsdam 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a longsword by Regenyei. It's nice for technical training, but too stiff in the thrust for full speed sparring

As I am not familiar with Marozzo I am asking myself when and for what is Marozzo using this technique?
@SchildwachePotsdam
@SchildwachePotsdam 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for answering so late. Marozzo uses the rising falso dritto as an exit from play or with a sidestep to cut to the hands; and as an attack / provocation and even defense into guardia di intrare.

Version 2 kinda feels like a lot of grip change just for the sake of saying "No it's totally a false edge cut". It looks like you are making an entire 360 degree rotation when returning to PDF too, so technically it would be true edge? Though I look more at the end position, intrare, which to me makes it feel like it's just a Mandritto ridoppio with extra steps
@SchildwachePotsdam
@SchildwachePotsdam 3 жыл бұрын
While fighting it feels like a falso manco into GdC to then cut around. The grip change is actually fairly easy and the depictions of Marozzo's guards switch between different grips as well. Actually I've found cutting with a sharp way easier with the second version as our hand can be a stable platform for edge alignment. Nevertheless, I don't know if that's the version Marozzo intended for us, so I totally get your critique.
@penttikoivuniemi2146
@penttikoivuniemi2146 3 жыл бұрын
Version 2 is the one that makes more sense in the context Marozzo most commonly throws the said falso, ie at the end of a combination when you have ended up relatively close to the opponent. I've also found it a lot more useful in sparring, so whether or not Marozzo meant something else, I personally prefer doing version 2 with a longsword. Version 1 is decent with a single-handed sword though.
