When do you do specials? Do you cover science/social studies? What about speach/OT? These are the things that throw off my schedule. I wind up with 1.5 hours between breakfast and specials, 1.5 between specials and lunch/recess, and 1.5 between lunch/recess and dismissal. I rotate science and social studies.

These are all great questions! Science and social studies I cover in my afternoon whole group and centers. I use the units from Made for Me Literacy for this. I work around the Speech and OT schedules so speech comes into my classroom and I give them their own designated table. I velcro that table color (red) icon to the student schedules and they rotate to speech as a center. OT comes once a week and does individual pull out sessions with my students - they are here all day. We have a sensory room here so that works for us! I have students mainstreaming in the afternoon for PE and I have one paraprofessional take them for that. We do music every once in a while and we just change our schedule for that then pick up where we left off when it is over. & we go to the library once a week and also change the schedule for this - eliminating two centers in place of library in the mornings. I hope this helps ❤️!

Do you have just one student at a time at each center? Does an adult run each center or do the kids do some of them independently? Also, what does a student do if he finishes the work before it's time to rotate?

I have between 2-3 students at each center. Students are working with staff and independently depending on the center they are at. When a student finishes independent work early, they are allowed to play iPad or with toys. 😊

My Google Slides are from Engaging Early Learners on TpT: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Classroom-Morning-Meeting-Editable-Slides-For-All-Grades-and-Subjects-5676435. I make my "first/then" by adding text boxes to the blank slide. Very simple to do!

Do you have a machine to add the spiral to your books, or do you take them somewhere?😊

Is your autism room considered mild-mod? I work with mod-severe (ESN) at the moment and we have so many behaviors that some of them doung any work is near impossible.

Yes, my classroom is mild-mod. I can imagine a mod-severe autism classroom would look much different than mine. I’m sure there are components of my room that you can take and modify to fit the needs of your classroom better. Let me know if you’d like any suggestions and I would be more than happy to help!

In most states, it's illegal for teachers to gain financial benefit by using school materials to do so. As she is selling products using this video showing her classroom, conflict of interest laws may have been violated.

Hi! Thanks for your concern. All of the resources shown in this video that were created by The Autism Helper or other teacher-sellers have been made in accordance with US copyright laws. Many teachers have to purchase their own classroom resources on their own dime, and The Autism Helper and our team strives to make the lives of educators easier by selling pre-made resources such as the ones shown in this video. There is no conflict of interest, thousands of teachers sell their own educational materials online, and no FERPA/HIPAA laws have been broken by simply sharing this educational video.

Actually, teachers pay for a lot of their own supplies and that's simply not true. As long as they aren't showing the kids they can post whatever they want. There are several teacher KZfaqrs and tiktokers.
