Last Wednesday, June 15, train set 56 of the new Talgo model, the AVRIL (Alta Velocidad Rueda Independiente Ligero - Light Independent Wheel High Speed) was seen in Valencia.
This is due to the transfer of the unit from Madrid, through Alcázar de San Juan and Albacete to Barcelona passing through Valencia.
The set arrived at Fuente de San Luis (Valencia, in addition to where the city depots, TCR - workshop and classification) late due to a breakdown in the locomotive that was transporting it (the 252-061), so it had to be rescued by another 252. As can be seen in the video, the 252-061 has a Scharfenberg coupling installed to be able to couple directly with the AVRIL set without the need to use intermediate wagons.
It spent the afternoon and night at Valencia until the next day at 9:00 when it was ready to leave for Barcelona, his final destination.
I don't know the reason for the transfer, perhaps to make homologations through Barcelona or even through the French border, because certain units will ride through France.
These trains designated as Talgo F070 or series 106 of Renfe, are the new high-speed units with sliding wheels, that is, they can run on both Iberian gauge (1,668mm) and international gauge (1,435mm) and are dual-voltage, in the case of units that will be used in Spain (3kV DC and 25kV AC 50hz) and trivoltage, in the case of the units that will also ride in France (1.5kV DC, 3kV DC and 25kV AC 50hz).
They are also capable of reaching 330km/h, they have a length of about 202m approx. and a width of 3.2m, which will allow for 3 + 2 seating arrangements in Economy class or in the "low cost" versions (AVLO).
It has the ASFA and ETCS/ERTMS level 1 and 2 security systems and for the units that will ride in France they also have KVB and TVM. In addition, they all have the "dead man" system and the communication systems "Tren-Tierra" (Train-Ground) and GSM-R.
They are just as powerful as an AVE 102 or 112 series but more efficient, they consume less energy and resources.
