It's almost that time for Winter Speckled Trout fishing! Winter time is my favorite time to get out and target big trophy Speckled Trout! In the Winter these speckled trout or spotted sea trout head deep up into the rivers around the Mobile bay looking for warmth. In the mobile bay these trout gather up in tight groups and can become very easy to catch once you locate a school. This is one of the best times to get out and target giant gator speckled trout because they are much easier to target with larger baits.

Good luck down here. You can try Bon Secour. The bite has been really good in there this year. You can also check out our Patreon page, it shows you where we catch each fish in there and has a pretty good breakdown of Bon Secour.

Thanks brother! There’s a kayak launch on Riviera Du Chien Rd. Follow the signs there and you’ll end up on Halls Mill Creek.

Good stuff. Do you prefer Halls Mill Creek Landing to launch or Schwarz Ln? For safety in addition to putting you near the action?

Thanks man! I like both launches. Fishing is better in Rabbit Creek but Halls Mill creek is closer to dog river so it just depends on what I feel like my game plan should be.

Valuable info here man- Much appreciated! So I’m the dead of winter when the water is the coldest and we’re deep up the creeks, would we be looking for deep water or shallow water?

You should definitely focus on the deepest parts of the creeks but don’t be afraid to fish shallow. Early mornings they will pull shallow to feed.

@@southernsalt Good to know. I always figured the deeper the water the colder so I’ve actually hurt my chances by not looking for enough deep pockets.
