Cruzing the back country creeks including one that is freshwater and originates from well inside the Refuge Boundary on the Gulf Coastline.....Worked my way north and managed to C/R a 15 Spot Redfish, A big Speckled Trout and encounter a very friendly Manatee!!

Nice trout. Good to see them showing up. Beautiful multi spot red. Nothing like backwater refuge fishing.

Thanks Lee!! I hadn't been to this area in a while....I always like wandering into this creek.....It has a very unique look to it.....If there weren't so many downed palms I could get a lot farther back in there!!

Thanks!! I've got access to freshwater springs and creeks that empty into the Gulf.....They are our major source of drinking water and most of the saltwater species are freshwater tolerant!! This new motor is so quiet I'm sneakin' up on the Manatees....LOL!!

Thanks BIG-D!! I'm sitting on 160 sq. miles of Federal and State Refuges with limited access and coastal terrain that will challenge anyone.....Local knowledge is what gives me the advantage around here!! @WesLovelace
@WesLovelace 3 ай бұрын
Thanks John!! After years of running around I've never gotten lost during the day.....Usually starting in September thru October I run to several locations to fish well before daylight .....Usually about 4 AM. Now it's a slower run up there because I need to see the outlines of certain islands in my travels and I don't use my handheld GPS or spotlights!! I have the GPS to help me navigate during those days where the Fog is so thick you have no clue where N-E-S-W directions are and I use 6 waypoints to put me in Wall Bay.....Now once inside the creeks the travel is a lot easier.....running this entire area is about local knowledge and that I have thousands of hours stored under my hat.....That being said if I ever lose my mind I'll really be screwed.....LOL.....Have a great weekend John!!
