Actually ground sloths grew as big as elephants.Also South America`s largest predator is the black caiman.

It's incredible how they avoided to name Venezuela, we have important clouded forests almost isolated by paramos. Or the Orinoco Basin for that matter, this is the little brother of the Amazon river and is also huge, separated by the mountain chain, pico la neblina.
