exactly! the amount of money they waste on physical advertising medium (mailings and flyers, etc.) is hilarious! Its actually getting to the point where I feel I get more physical main from Spectrum asking me to come back than I do credit card offers through out the month. Emails are even worse as I get almost 2-3 emails from Spectrum with the same advert a DAY!!!

Exactly, its as though they want to get out of the cable TV business and just stick with Internet. I was told by a friend in the business the profit on cable tv is slim and they make their money on internet, at least for the cable company in my area. I hope companies like T-Mobile with their Wireless Internet crush them.

Your friend is correct. Cable companies Live tv revenue is slim to none because the content providers like Disney ( who owns ESPN most expense channel) , Discovery +, Paramount, ect… keeps raising their prices and the cable companies have to pass the increase on to their customers and they know subscribers will blame the cable companies because that’s where they get their bills. But and more cable companies drop Live TV, the content providers will raise thier rates to the streaming services like Hulu, KZfaq Tv, ect… to make up for lost AD revenue. Pretty soon . The streaming services will be just as expensive as the cable companies. They are all just distributors but they don’t own the rights to the content. with ATSC 3.0 coming out the content providers are trying to encrypt over-the air signals as well to stop receiving local channels for free. So don’t blame the cable companies , blame the broadcasters.

@@RMGvp Cable Companies need to get into streaming. They got into cell phones so why not get into selling streaming packages. They should also figure out a cheaper layer of cable tv. 3/4 of the channels I get I don't watch. Give me 10 channels at half of what I am paying and I will be happy. There loosing cable TV subscription to streaming so why not get into the game and at the same time it will offer the other streaming packages like Sling some competition. T-Mobile gives away for free subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, etc. Their internet is cheaper and in my case faster for upload speeds. I see no future for Comcast, Spectrum, COX unless they can compete with T- mobile prices.

The Zipwave TV streaming service from last video is a massive scam. People that are signing up do not get access to all those channels, nor can they access the account settings and cancel their plan. You should cut that part out of your video.

As a current Spectrum customer I will be dropping them with this price increase. There are other streaming and Internet providers that are a lot cheaper. Spectrum will eventually price themselves our of the market.

For those who have a "deal" and think they can't raise your price, think again. While they often give you a price upfront, it is actually expressed as a discount off of the regular price. If the regular price goes up, so does yours, by the same amount. The discount is still there, but the bottom line goes up when their price goes up.

Spectrum just yesterday called me - offering me a $46.99 / month for 1Gb internet - I'm currently with Breezeline (WOW) and pay $55 for the same speed but it's ALL IN - I have it for another year at that rate. I asked the Spectrum rep if they could guarantee that rate for FIVE years and wanted to get a written quote for the "out the door" price - I further said that I would like a quote for all 5 years up front - they said they couldn't do that - I countered with "because you'll change the deal about a year in and I'll have to switch _again_ to another provider" - they didn't have (really) any response.

I just call and get monthly dropped again when it increases. Can also drop service for 31 days to start over as new customer or just switch primary account holder. Easy with Spectrum. Nothing else around me can compete with Spectrum speed /reliability/cost so this is what I do.

kind of like going to the grocery store and negotiating with the cashier over the price of milk...it's not up to the sales rep what they can and cannot do. Guarantee is also a word most contractually bound companies will avoid.

When I dumped spectrum for T-Mobile they immediately offered me 2 years for $30/month internet only. At the time my bill was up to $94 and they wouldn’t give anything lower when I asked a couple of months earlier. It had doubled since 2017. I was tired of them and T-Mobile worked great where I live so I declined and moved on. My speeds are better and I have a more reliable connection. Competition is king.

Their biggest scheme is setting up exclusive provider contracts with condo associations and apartment complexes who get paid to keep out competitors forcing tenants (who don’t see any of the money) to pay for their services

Currently a Spectrum customer. I've I hate with these constant price increases from Spectrum. Will be looking for cheaper options. So long Spectrum. Eventually you won't have any customers. Get out of TV and Internet market. You can't compete.

I think many people are reluctant to give up cable/dish even though of the many price hikes. Sometimes there are channels or programming they're not willing to give up that may not be available elsewhere.

They should consider reducing their ad budget by 50% that alone would increase their profits. I dropped cable TV years ago - and do not miss it at all - especially their "every year" price increases. One final thought - they should offer discounted prices for loyal, on time paying customers...instead of punishing them with increases!

I just found an old Spectrum bill from late 2015 for $127, which is about what my bill for T-Mobile 5G Home Internet and KZfaqTV totals to now. I figure my Spectrum bill would be approaching $240 if I kept it through this latest price hike. I'm saving over $100/month. But Spectrum is sending me flyers to get 50 Mbps internet for $25/month. That doesn't work with streaming TV & PC internet. If they raised it to 100 Mbps at $25 I'd get it, maybe. They seem to have a lot of extra fees.

I'm so glad I gave Spectrum the boot after fiber optic Internet came to my town. Not only is my Internet bill cheaper than Spectrum could ever offer, I also get better speeds for my money. Also, there's no hidden fees and my plan isn't for a limited time only, much like Spectrum.

Don’t forget if your in California, New York and I think Illinois they must pro rate your bill, make sure you cancel your service when the monthly service time it expires for other states. Customer service is clueless

Cable/Fiber/internet/5G/Satellite Costs - An idea for a future segment might be comparing costs of currently popular cable/internet/satellite services. You're constantly mentioning price increases and special price deals, but maybe do a summary of these once in a while to see how their normal non-sale prices compare. Maybe every 6 months or yearly if the information can be compiled? Just an idea. Bally Sports/Comcast/Sports Leagues - I thought once you go into bankruptcy all your 'NDA' contracts suddenly get opened so all the creditors know what's going on. I worked at a place that had to do that, not a pretty sight for the execs that got hit with illegal financial mismanagement & SEC charges.

I knew they would raise prices considering they have ads out where they talk about Internet providers like verizon and others and how they slow down services at certain times. They need more competition and with companies that charge less for the same speeds they offer. Only when they lose customers will they consider going back down in price.

Where does Luke get info that says "quietly" ..seems rather odd to say such a thing and yet find a story on that to report. IOW's.. If it was a quiet increase, how does he know that? Hmmm?

It seems as though we are going back to the future as far as media consumption. Survives like KZfaq, free streaming services, understandable, are all ad supported just like broadcast television had always been. While understandable, it just made me think about ads,especially today's lousy ads with are different than the ones that I grew up with in the 60's and 70's that are usually not that entertaining or engaging. This is just an observation by someone who has watched TV for over six decades.

Why would anyone want to pay more for cable or youtube or fubo now June thru September. Hollywood may be filming stuff in the summer, but you will not see new episodes of anything until at least October fall season. Why pay more for last seasons episodes you already watched.

I know used to when I was using a TiVo box Comcast did not charge me a cable card fee because they would not sell me one and I could not buy one and use it on their system

They are all going to raise prices. All networks will raise prices or make deals with streaming services, slowly raising prices. In the end, I’m seeing streaming as ‘the new norm’ replacing cable tv and, in the end, prices will level off at or just above what cable prices are. Cable companies are fighting their extinction while programs try to change from old cable tv to streaming.

The dollar is being devalued as more and more money is printed and sent to other countries, and we often fund both sides of wars as well. Inflation. And people are cutting expenses anywhere they can. Many people saying I'd like cable and/or 6 streaming services, but I don't NEED it.

Just cut the TV and Phone cord from Frontier for this very reason-price creep. Ironically Spectrum keeps sending me mail to subscribe.🤣 What's more ironic, I was an original employee of what now is our local Spectrum company(1971)🤦‍♂🤞 You Tube TV doesn't follow the same trend.

it's happening with KZfaq TV too..just not as pronounced yet. The bright spot of KZfaq TV is that they have little infrastructure to care for, unlike cable TV. Their customers have to get internet separately. They are, however, not immune to the content prices going up as evidenced by their first ever loss of subscriber numbers.

@jjc4577 did you even read what I said? I was referring to the past years when TV used Nealson ratings. They had SOME idea of the numbers of viewers. His statement was they did not know. So if they did not know they charged advertisers based off made up figures. In all truth that is what is going on today still in some segments of advertising. They can track you today but the value of advertising is still sketchy. But that's a business agreement between the advertised and the provider, I guess. Flooding a channel with the same as over and over should devalue the as, you'd think. But not to Google and streaming services! End of rant.

I agree - I was thinking of getting a HDHomeRun that supported ATSC 3 but the $100 more for the device AND that it calls home to get certs was a deal breaker for me - I'll wait until ATSC 1.0 has nothing but shopping channel and religious programming then I'll upgrade....

BS! Your paying more for less and less. Everybody is putting all their money into their Streaming Channels and not into what your allready paying for. Plus their demanding that the Cable Companies pay them more. To add insult to injury they've taken allmost everything away from On Demand and put it onto their Streaming Service. Meanwhile Spectrum brags about their incredible On Demand! All the while losing huge numbers of subscribers every quarter. I'll soon be one of them!!

Nah, it’s called spectrum sucks and cable companies are amongst the most hated companies in American history. I have 2 address and was lucky enough to drop both spectrum AND Xfinity with yearly savings at approximately $732/yr and no price increase to battle over every year or so. Their call in customer service was some of the dumbest conversations I’ve ever had.
