What should I really practice in my practice routine? Also a question I really pondered in my early days and often now and that’s how do you write good Rythym parts for songs. Like I’m in a band, I know my 💩 for the guitar solo that comes on at 2:15 but until then I just stand there. I mean I don't want to strum chords but I didn't know how to write interesting progressions or anything to play during the vocals. I mean how do I write stuff like Mayer or Slash or even my heroes online like Chris Buck or Sped Spedding.

P S... On learning the fretboard.... I used to draw out the fretboard leaving gaps for notes and used to fill them in as fast as I could! Usually everyday.... For me it sort of etched them into the grey matter! Then I used to play all the notes chromatic ally from bottom E to fret five up to to fret 5...then reverse... Really boring and tedious but it worked for me! Then same from A on bottom E at fret 5 to C or C# on top E at fret 8 or 9.....Must be easier ways now but hey there was nothing else that I knew of!

I was like, how the hell he doesn't know Tony Iommi?? But then you remembered haha Thanks for the answer about how to make whole songs out of riffs. I'm doing what you said, trying to study how my favorites musicians gave form to their music. I like to study Bach's chorales, it's in four voices, bass, tenor, alto and soprano, and I also like to analyse Tony Iommi riffs, trying to understand his musical form. Yeah, I guess I'm on the right path, thanks again.

I bought a spark, they're ok but not so great - first up, you can't without having to stop playing change your options. you physically need your fingers to change between presets which is incredibly annoying. The new firmware includes a clone pedal which sounds good. I like the fact you can plug it into your favourite daw, and do some cool recording. It's also quite bassy. it'll only ever be a practice amp. The knobs on the amp aren't in sync with the sw, not until you actually move the knob then you see the sw knob sync in, once again annoying.
@SpedSpedding
@SpedSpedding 3 жыл бұрын
One problem with small amps is usually that they’re too tinny and don’t have any bass. I’d rather have to dial it down than not have any. My answer was “don’t base your question on level, base it on functionality.” Tell me what sounds you want and size, not just level. Surely the knobs take a second to sync because you can save digital presets? They’re not automated knobs are they.
@GizmoGTI
@GizmoGTI 3 жыл бұрын
@@SpedSpedding Ok good point about the bass. The sw don;t sync with the knobs, not until you actually move the knob, sw then syncs - so if you've been messing around with the knobs without messing around with the sw, the sw when used knows nothing about the position of the knob, only when you then adjust a knob, that knob is then reflected in the sw. yet there should be a footswitch (I know there is a BT 3rd party) - the other thing too is, if you try record the accessory input, it's not possible. My beat buddy doesn't work too well unless I have it connected to the accessory port. Using loop peddle, just don't do it - the amp doesn't have a bypass - maybe in V2, would you care to buy this spark off me?
