SESSION TWO:
Sulabh International School of Action Sociology & Sociology of Sanitation proudly announces its pre-eminent, three-day National Conference on Sociology of Sanitation, April 02-04, 2023, Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
The Conference has the honour of having Hon’ble former President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, who as the Chief Guest of the inaugural session inaugurates the Conference. Hon’ble former Governor of Sikkim and Meghalaya, Shri Ganga Prasad and Hon’ble former Chief Justice of India, Shri Tirath Singh Thakur, who presides over the session, grace the occasion. The distinguished participants address the august gathering.
The unique mega event is the confluence of academics from top universities of the country who converge to deliberate on the discipline of Sociology of Sanitation, founded by Hon’ble Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, founder Sulabh Sanitation, Social Reform & Human Rights Movement. The lifetime work of Hon’ble Dr Pathak, being marked by his globally acclaimed flagship invention - the two-pit, sewerage-free, human -waste-decomposer, mass technology, among a slew of others and pathbreaking social and human rights interventions to uplift human-waste scavengers, widows and others struggling to survive, gave him the sobriquet, the Action Sociologist. His being the Prime Mover of concepts and technologies in the global sanitation space, his work shaped up as Sociology of Sanitation now complements the curricula of higher education in the country, being taught in 25 universities, and counting. His drive rooted in the Gandhian philosophy that education must prepare an individual to earn his livelihood, Hon’ble Dr Pathak worked to father the new sociology that prepares one for occupation and even self-employment. The Conference allows the stakeholders to explore and build thereon to achieve the larger interest of nation building.
