@@westtexasvideogateski5juf255 mine arrived a couple of weeks ago. it's a very nice tranceiver! I've been toying with the settings per your video and using the monitor function transmitting into a dummy load to hear the results. I'm not sure I'm the best judge for what sounds most natural in my own voice however.

@@imarunner2 Good evening John how are you doing? One friend recommended headphones to listen to you voice, Heil is a popular HAM brand, I know it's hard to be the judge of you own voice over a speaker. The important this is not to have distortion or overdriving the audio into the amp, let me know how things progress, appreciate the message '73 de KI5JUF

I made these adjustments and started using the speech processor. It's really helped those harder qsos and I'm even breaking a few pile ups where I've always struggled.

@@westtexasvideogateski5juf255 Thank you. You have a good one too. I do have one question. Have you ever tried to find a way to view the 991 screen on an external display? I have searched and haven’t found a way.

All these Gazillion menu settings are just a sales gimmick that people fall for. There are many older ANALOG radios that are much better than the FT991A and they work just fine.

It would interesting to to take a older radio without all the software and do the same type of video showing old school tuning knobs etc. I'm embarrassed it would take me a while to muddle through all the knobs and switches just to get started - I see now even some of the newest radios are just a black box with some coax connections you operate the whole radio by software. Next they will embed a microchip in our brain and not need computers. Thanks for message 73
