They celebrated their 10th Anniversary Tour finale in Yokohama in 2023. They are going to release a new album in September. Now, you can react to Band-Maid's music linearly from beginning to present or Jump to their most recent releases. Four of the videos released on their official KZfaq channel from their 10th Anniversary Tour finale are "Hate?", "Unleash", "Don't You Tell ME", and "Endless Story", all official live videos and all show how far the Maids have come in ten years. Their first official music video was "Thrill". It was the video that allowed t he band to stay together and not be disbanded by their production company. "Real Existence" and "The Non-Fiction Days" were two other early released official music videos. The official live video that most Band-Maid fans say really introduced them (me included) is "Domination". That official live video really shows the band's prowess as a hard rock band. It's musically well done, with some epic solos by the lead guitar, bass, and drums. Their lead singer, Saiki, really proves that she is a charismatic and engaging vocalist. Now that I have given you some suggestions on how to proceed on your reactions to Band-Maid, have fun with your discovery of these five wonderfully talented young Japanese females.

From Japan Thank you for your reaction to BAND-MAID. They are in their 11th year since their formation, and the members have not changed. They already have nearly 130 original songs. They are a genuine live rock band, so listening to them at a loud volume makes them even more appealing. There is also a live video, so please listen to it. Any recommendation is fine, but many fans recommend Domination, Puzzle, Hate?, Play, Real Existence, etc., but I also recommend Bubble, YORO, Glory, etc. Their charm lies not only in the songs they create, but also in their humanity. They are ordinary women who are serious, friendly, and continue to work hard to cherish their fans. There are also many introductory videos, so please take a look. Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. Whether the Maids are similar to kawaii metal really depends on how you define kawaii metal. In the beginning when that subgenre was created (by Kobametal and BABYMETAL), it referred more narrowly to bands that were manufactured from the Idol scene, combining J-pop with metal music. However, nowadays a lot of people just use it to refer to any Japanese band that combines heavy metal with "cute" vocals or aesthetics, whether those bands were manufactured from Idol groups or came together organically. Band-Maid formed organically, and certainly have a kawaii quality (though they only occasionally step over into metal territory). Some other Japanese hard rock and metal bands that are also sometimes loosely referred to as kawaii metal (but aren't manufactured bands) include Hanabie, Nemophila, Gacharic Spin (and their offshoot Doll$boxx), Hagane, Passcode and others. There aren't very many bands that are true kawaii metal under the original meaning of the genre, the most notable being BABYMETAL and LadyBaby. Dreamcatcher also sometimes gets lumped in with kawaii metal, despite beng Korean and not Japanese.

Really before anything else, you should listen to Choose Me live in concert. Trust me. Trust us. Same song but you'll be amazed all over again.

Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).

My personal top three to start with for them would be Tousou (Run Away), Be the Gal, and Otaku Lovely Densetsu. Very, very different from Band-Maid, but wildly entertaining.

You will probably like their live versions more than their studio versions. Both are great. But Band Maid are *VERY* fun to watch live, and they add things to their songs when performing live that takes things to a higher level. The main exception to this is their instrumental song From Now On (Official Music Video), which I strongly recommend. My favorite song at the moment is Hate? (Official Live Video).

Very first song I heard from them while watching the Netflix movie ‘Kate’. Since then I’m a Maidiac. I recommend Puzzle for your next BM song. For Kawaii Metal, see Hanabie, start with We Love Sweets.

Band-Maid is quite possibly the best live rock band on the planet. There are several recent songs on the Band-Maid KZfaq channel which are Official Live Videos from their 10th anniversary tour final at Yokohama Arena. Don't You Tell ME and Hate? are bangers that include guitar vs bass duel battles. The last song of the concert and tour, Endless Story, is a tear jerker ballad that even choked up the singer Saiki and drummer Akane. Some other song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Clang, and Matchless Gum. They have a catalog of over one hundred great songs. If you are not fond of one then choose another because it will be much different than the one before it and the next one to follow. Have fun with it!
