Just one step towards automatic speeding tickets - exceed the limit and your car will inform the police and you'll get a ticket in the mail the next day. I have an elderly TomTom satnav system which uses a database to track the current speed limit wherever I'm driving and it sounds a chime whenever I exceed the speed limit. I can turn this feature off, but I don't - I find it useful. I can ignore it - and sometimes I do. This is all I need in order to avoid speeding tickets - anything beyond this is clearly a stepping stone to ramping up authoritarian control.

This is so stupid. Why go to all this trouble when you can just have a setting to let the car control the cruise control setting? As the car reads the speed sign it adjusts the cruise speed down. And ask for confirmation to go up. I wish my car had this feature instead of bothering me to tell me I am going to fast when it could easily adjust the speed.
