Michael, obviously the ‘merch’ has to be advertised, but for me Finishing is just that - finishing off a move or set play. Whatever training you do, as an individual or as a team, it’s always the ‘End Product’ that defines the effectiveness of ANY attack. It’s like the final brushstroke of a masterpiece, the final note of a classic piece of music, the final line in an Oscar winning film etc. Football is a lot like the alphabet - we all know the 26 letters, we know what order they come in, but it’s the ARRANGEMENT of those letters into words, sentences, paragraphs that turn those 26 letters into a fantastic story. As in football, it’s the ARRANGEMENT of all the techniques, skills into co-ordinated sequences AND the vital END PRODUCT (positive strike on goal) that separates the great from the good. I used to run entire sessions that HAD to end with a strike on goal, even warm ups etc so that players mentally got into the habit of knowing there had to be a finish to complete any attack. As for the actual specifics, I came to the conclusion that strikers come in basically 3 types; 1: THE GREAT GOAL SCORER (Those who don’t care HOW it goes in, just as long as they score) 2: THE SCORER OF GREAT GOALS (Those who love to score the spectacular goals to the detriment of scoring at times) 3: THE TARGET (Those who provide a focal point to play to then combine) Now within those 3, the players who can strike with both feet to the same degree, who are spatially aware of the space around them, their position in relation to the opponents goal, AND their teammates are as valuable to a teams success as the best passes any individual can make. Ah your footwork is so impressive, my first touch is bad when under pressure and when passing cant do it accurately since cant keep my head up they press well, but you do it flawlessly

One idea: Get yourself a tennis ball and just begin dribbling the ball with both feet. Progress to not looking directly at the tennis ball but ‘see’ the colour yellow in your peripheral vision while scanning the space in front of you to assess what touch you instantly need to make. This takes time but will give you more confidence in trusting your feet. Then move on to a normal ball and repeat the movements. Michael has given you all the techniques you need. It’s now up to you to put the time in to know... WHAT TO DO, WHERE TO DO IT, WHEN TO DO IT, WHO DOES IT, And most important of all WHY YOU DO IT! 👍

@Thijs Looije: Yoo division, can u make a drill for finishing when you cut inside and have to shoot cross goal ? I always either hit it weak or shoot wide Even tho my power shots are one of my strength, when im cutting inside to bypass someone and i dont have the time to take my time for a more finessed finish i always seem to hit the ball wrong, even in training with no opposition… and because this is my most occuring type of attack in a match i would love you to help me out

Hello Michael sir, I'm feeling pensive to tell you that I have taken a break from my sports i.e. Football just because I got 87.7% , securing second rank in my class. My parents have disallowed me to play just because I came second not first. This was the result of my first term exam of class 9th. I just wanted to know yours as well as others' ( who are reading this comment ) views regarding this matter. I mean is this normal to spend time in sports but simultaneously, excelling in academics (because my rank was second) . Though parents are not satisfied, 😢

Same here, but make them understand you belong to sport. Maybe your parents haven't discovered that you wanna be a professional player. They're not happy because they want you to be 1st class graduate I'm future studying one of the expensive courses like Medicine and surgery, Marine engineering and more. If you wanna be a prof in football tell them straight and check out for an academy. Best of luck mate 🥰
