The sound design was also extremely satisfying. What I would give to watch this in a theatre again…

I know it's cheesy and goofy but I will never forget watching my 3-year-old son with a look of absolute joy on his face standing and yelling at the screen and cheering on Speed in that final race. I watched that cartoon so much as a child and seeing my youngest son get to experience it on a level I never imagined just about had me in tears of joy.

even the original anime is cheesy and goofy, and i think that's part of what made it so memorable.

My favorite movie. It is genuinely a masterpiece. If it had gotten the attention it deserved it would of changed animation and cinema for ever

Great Review - It’s sad that you never saw this on the big screen. … being a huge fan of anime … watching since the early 70s … I was in tears watching this in the theater. In fact, after watching it once I turned around and bought another ticket. Then, a couple of days later, went back and watched it again. In total I watched it on the silver screen Six Times. Purchased the screen play and the DVD as soon as it was available. Time will tell … this is a cinematic GEM 💎

As a kid born in the 60s; I grew up watching Speed Racer. So when the movie came out; I was thrilled to see all the call backs to the show. This was a movie I really enjoyed, but was unable to see in theaters, at the time. Pity; it never got the sequel it deserved to have.

Indeed, I’m sad it never got a sequel as well. But remember that Apple TV is making a live action show of Speed Racer. I don’t know if it’ll be good as the movie but hopefully they can deliver it well.

Im not mad that it never got a sequel its kind of like a disney movie in that there really arent that many ways a sequel could go, if any, that wouldnt be terrible or make the ending of the first movie worse

They would have Speed Racer on Saturday morning cartoons in the early 90’s so I grew up watching the old anime. This movie is a cinematic masterpiece -elevating the original material.
