* 0:07 , I block big silhouette of object, using dark unsaturated colors. I use brush with grungy border to not be tempted to detail, or clearly try to make the silhouette clean.
* 0:16 , with a big brush and 'Color Dodge' blending mode, I decide of a primary light source. Here it's obvious the back windows.
* 0:28 , I start to paint with big mid-brush ( still grungy ). It's secondary little silhouette. Warm touch , I tend to define this way ( chromatic and luminosity ) where the main focus will be : her face.
* 0:46 , I start to reduce the brush and draw. Fixing pose, and proportion.
* 0:48, second light from the cauldron ( still no details as the face of Pepper )
* 1:00, framing, using the rule of third, and centered axis.
* 1:12 starting to draw on volumes subdetails : face mimic, the last part of the video is just cleaning ( adding hard edges and inner details to object ).

Same. I actually came here to try to learn how to paint like this. Out of all the things I've tried with art in my life: pencil-drawings, CGI, flipbooks, 2D digital animation, FX, the thing that stumped me the most by far is how to paint lineless like this. Been trying to figure it out for years, and it agitates me to no end.

***** 'bad drawing day' happen to everyone. Relax, focus your attention on something else ; also maybe your definition of 'good' needs a bit more description. You can write down for yourself what you define as a 'good' drawing and then also add a column to what type of skill you need to train for having similar results. It's a quest, good luck in yours!

+drawtoyourdeath xxx Thanks! If you want to try this approach ,I advice you to imagine your scene to be looking like very low 3D polygon games ( first gen of 3D games, as on Nintendo64 ) ; simple shapes everywhere. It helps for shading and getting the silhouette right. If the value/proportions/composition/pose works at this step ; adding details on the top is piece of cake. The big difficulties is in the anticipation of pose and facial expression. Nowaday, I'm trying more and more to mix techniques ; penciling for faces/hands, and general body pose ; and painting everything else.
