The best part of this was watching you do the IC10 chip programming. I learned so much. Can you redo this challenge, but with the new 66%Nitrogen/33%O2 requirements of the game now? That would be great! Thanks

Wow, that was incredibly impressive! I learned a ton from this so thank you. I am a little confused about some of the IC10 math, such as why you decided to multiply the gas sensor by 5, etc. But besides that it was very easy to follow, thank you for putting in the effort to make this!
@CommanderHayes
@CommanderHayes Жыл бұрын
I also didn't get the multiply by 5 thing, so I wrote it in pseudo code: *start:* *temp = Sensor.Temperature* *setTemp = 310 - (OnState * 5)* *if temp > setTemp then OnState = 1 else OnState = 0* *AC.On = OnState* *j start* This makes the AC switch on if above setpoint, cool down 5 degrees, switch off. Pretty clever method.

Tried to do Vulcan many times. Always failed for some reason or another (Venus is a cakewalk in comparison). Watched your video, many lightbulbs lit up. Noticed the things I was doing wrong. Tried to replicate some of your ideas. Failed miserably again 😀 I guess I need checklists to help prioritize. This is impressive work. I'm particularly fond of how efficient you are with inventory manipulation without ever even using the pointer. I still find myself dragging and dropping too much. Your tool battery swaps look like a gun reload in a FPS. Currently doing a "Vulcan lite" run (with the food rebalance but with the Venus starting conditions). Let's see how that goes.

i'm very happy you found it helpful :D Forcing yourself to learn how to use the inventory system "as intended" is in my eyes very underrated. It isn't very intuitive at first, but when you get used to it the gameplay feels more fluent. You're the first to comment on it, but my impression is that few people do it.

Fast way to empty the waste tank is just bring up its menu while it's still in the suit, open it, it vents to atmosphere and autocloses. Super sweet starter base setup there.

An impressive performance that shows me how beginner-like i play this game. 👍 -One thing is not clear to me: the H2 burner consumes H2 to produce water. But where is the inlet for new H2? I would have expected one at the H2 filter, but there is a closed loop.- -Surprisingly, there is an amount of about 2 mol H2 in this closed filter-loop that is completely consumed when the filter runs for a short time. When the filter pauses, in the next tick (i assume) new H2 is created as if by magic. Where does this H2 come from? 🤔- Edit: Oh dear, I was so stupid. I found the passive fan. 😒 I never looked at the base from the side.

I did about 10 attempts, where about half was ended prematurely because of an explosive mistake, or simular. The first couple runs was just proof of concept, making sure it would actually work, and from there it was practice and eliminating everything unessesery. :) still improvement potential though.

Can please explain how does the air con work in this case? Why is there backpressure regulator on waste? The Stationpedia says it pumps air from the aircon into the waste pipe if the waste pipe has less than 100kPa. Aren't you loosing the air from the base then?
@Elmotrix
@Elmotrix 2 жыл бұрын
yes i am loosing air from the base. but the number of mols it puts into waste gets reduced by the input pipe length. and because i have such a huge pipe network, it's negligible.

Have reviewed this speedrun for the second time. What a brilliant inventory management )) Wouldn't you consider vacuuming waste for AC as a cheat or exploit, same as "vacuum freezer" (pressurized pipe with the radiotors in the vaccum room and a wall cooler on the other end) I saw in many other playthroughs?
@Elmotrix
@Elmotrix 2 жыл бұрын
There is a bunch of ways to utilize the AC, and obviously this method is "very effective" but by no means the worst offence possible. (you can cheese it in a way so that it just deletes heat energy completely). People can draw their own lines on what they consider as cheat or exploits. But for me anything that's possible is part of the toolbox, and finding these loopholes in the game mechanics is half the fun of stationeers :)
@AlexanderChaykin

@@Elmotrix Would you challege yourselves another run without "vacuum waste" AC but rather with automation of the outside tank filled with night temp atmo and run AC on this tank with venting the tank in over temp and filling it again by night? )) It will not give you the pleasure of -200C on AC ))
@Elmotrix
@Elmotrix 2 жыл бұрын
@@AlexanderChaykin if i couldn't vacuum the waste i'd got for the input -waste setup i have shown in my AC video. it's close to the same efficiency but require a bit more to set up. If you're thinking about using the AC in a "traditional" setup with just atmos temperature in the waste pipe it just wouldn't be power positive with a GFG. It would force wind or solar power, and take away a lot of the fun and complexity of the base.

I made a save on Steam for 'Real Venus' - 9.1 MPa, it's even harder than anything I've seen so far, but I need somebody to help me tweak the starting items. The true problem here isn't building your jumpstart oxygen shack, its depressurizing it. Active vents are too slow? (Then add more!!!) Also, a lot of things like PCUs and vents will disintegrate in the atmosphere... who knew that iron was that easy to melt? The other problem of course being sandbag-Steve, where you get flung around if you are not careful building/unbuilding, since they cause voids/overpressure zones. At 9 MPa, that is fatal.

Dunno, making the game "harder" by having an airlock cycle for half an hour is not fun for me. Migh as well mod the active vent.

so plants generate o2 out of thin air? Quite literally. For like entire 3 hours i was wondering where you will get more o2 and if conditioners will be efficient enough for GFG to actually generate power. Also, i don't get, why you use pressure regulators for AC waste output, but it seems there some funny physics that makes them more efficient this way?
@Elmotrix
@Elmotrix 2 жыл бұрын
plants produce o2 at a constant rate as long as co2 is present. But it doesn't consume co2 at a constant rate. with a high co2 ratio they consume at a rate of 2:1 (co2:o2). As the co2 ratio drops so does plant consumption, down to nearly nothing. With me in the room co2 ratio will drop until the plant consumption matches my breathing production. So yes, almost out of thin air. the back pressure regulator on the AC is just to empty the waste pipe each tick. When the ac sees an empty waste pipe it will take some gas from the input and stick it in the waste pipe. this gives input and waste the same temperature and thus it only consumes 300w. i set it to -200 so that it will always remove 6000j of energy (witch goes into the waste pipe). and i mention the length of the pipe network (on input/output), the longer this network is, the less gas it sticks into the waste pipe. so if this pipe network is super long (like maybe 100 pipe segments and 20 passive vents) it will put almost nothing into the waste pipe, and this "almost nothing" still receives the full 6000j and thus i get an output of 7700 degC. Much heat energy removed, nearly no mass lost, for only 300w (+ regulator 100w).
