Safe is Fast & Speed Secrets - Part 2
I partnered with Safe Is Fast (safeisfast.com) to produce four videos designed to help you be an even better race car driver. In Part 2, I discuss the following Speed Secrets:
4. The advanced stuff is just doing the basics better.
5. Drive the track in your mind first.
6. Learn to manage your change-of-speed.
Check out: speedsecrets.com for more Ask Ross Q&A, webinars, Virtual Track Walks (with Peter Krause), free eBooks, eCourses, free track maps, the Speed Secrets Weekly e-newsletter, coaching, and more.
Also, I recommend HPDE, track day, and race driving instruction through organizers such as Chin Motorsports (www.chinmotorsports.com), Hooked On Driving (www.hookedondriving.com), The Drivers Edge (www.thedriversedge.net), ProFormance Racing School (proformanceracingschool.com), Bondurant Racing School (bondurant.com), Skip Barber Racing School (skipbarber.com), Allen Berg Racing Schools (www.allenbergracingschools.com/), David Murry Motorsports (davidmurry.com), BMW CCA (www.bmwcca.org), Porsche Club of America (www.pca.org), and Audi Club of North America (www.audiclubna.org), and many others. And check out SafeIsFast (safeisfast.com). My point? You should never stop learning - there's always more!
Have fun!

Children spend most of their time in theta frequencies (dream land, imagination). You grow older the brain shifts to other types of frequencies making it hard to imagine stuff, at least vividly and for some people. I'd recommend binaural beats.

Is smoothness and finesse faster than brute force ? The greats like Lewis Hamilton senna are always portrayed as aggressive drivers but is there more to them?

There's a balance. A driver can be too smooth, just like they can be not smooth enough; same with being aggressive. The best drivers find that perfect balance. Oh, and the balance is at a different point depending on track conditions, type of corners, car setup, etc. Again, the best drivers adapt better than the others. Most would agree that Hamilton and Senna were very smooth, and also aggressive, which means that they adapted to suit the situation and conditions.
