@BoxingGems the difference was that Errol Spence didn’t have the same steam in his body when he fought Terrence Crawford that he had when he fought Ugas. Errol Spence was in my opinion was extremely drained,weak and fatigued and just couldn’t perform to the best of his ability, he had no steam in the engine. And because Errol’s body didn’t feel right to him it caused him to become overly nervous and that caused him to panic in the ring and make more mistakes than he usually doesn’t like carrying his hands low, that’s something that he doesn’t do often. The truth is Terrence Crawford didn’t get the chance to fight the best version of Errol Spence. Errol Spence may have been at 65 percent of himself and Terrence Crawford May have been at 95 percent of himself and that’s why the fight wasn’t competitive. This is not to take anything away from Terrence because he did what he was supposed to do. But ask yourself this question, when have you ever seen Terrence Crawford dominate any of his other top opponents the way he dominated Errol Spence? The answer is never. I respect your opinion and I can tell that you really pay attention to detail which is good.👍

Haven't watched this yet. However, I watched your film study on them from before, and all the issues you talked about were exploited. His strength advantage carried him in a lot of fights. Crawford was the stronger man by far and all his weaknesses were highlighted 100x when he couldnt run the same gameplan he usually does. There was a lot of disrespect towards James for his inability to adjust mid fight. There were some interviews Errol did (I think it was the breakfast club), one of the things they talked about was something similar to "Crawford has a lot of styles and can make a lot of adjustments. Can you deal with it and match it?" and he responded with "I can but what I normally do works so I don't need to do it anymore." Which leads to him having a limited skillset at this point compared to Crawford.

People are forgetting some of the God given gifts Bud has. Like being 5'8 but having a longer wingspan than 6'1 Jermell Charlo. The same arm reach is David Benavidez. He can hit you before you get back out of his reach.
@restitvtororbis5330
@restitvtororbis5330 8 ай бұрын
Having a reach advantage is (almost) never a bad thing, but don't get too caught up in it. Jermell still became a champion with an average wingspan, but remember the whole 6 foot 1 part. Jermell is both taller and longer that bivol, except one is champ at 154 and one at 175. 21 pounds apart, and jermell SHOULD have the advantage, but he doesn't, he has height, length, and nothing else. Let's not forget that Mike tyson was about 5 foot 10 with (I think) 71inch reach, and was still a terrifying heavyweight, even when he weighed in barely 220 lbs. Think about crawford having a longer reach than a heavyweight that was barely 2 inches taller. Crawford having that 74 inch reach is an advantage he has learned how to use, but that doesn't make him some genetic anomaly with arms marginally longer than normal. If spence had the same reach as crawford, he would have lost just about the same way. Also, wingspan reach measurements are flawed anyway because height advantage should be factored into reach because you have a straighter path to your opponent when you're taller, and this can often be more effective than reach. In short, crawford having a marginally longer reach shouldn't be an excuse for a fighter like jermell (who is 5 inches taller) to lose, because even if his wingspan is shorter, he has 5 extra inches of body to make up for that. At absolute worst it evens the playing field, but in reality it's just trying to drum up a preemptive excuse. Crawford got his first championship at 135 with the same reach he has now, and Mike tyson became a champion at heavyweight with a shorter reach than that. Inches of reach is an advantage, but it shouldn't be an excuse

It was massively understated how much of an issue Spence would have against an ELITE RIGHT HANDED southpaw. Bud understands both stances and angles AS either stances and angles. Spence would have done insurmountably better if bud stayed orthodox. Still would have lost clearly, That lead right was what fucked brook and the 2-1 was an issue for spence amung other things. Truly, I thought spence would have got stopped with a lead right like brook.

I get being in your feels and not wanting to believe that was the guy you rooted for for so long. But you gotta come to your senses sooner or later. A boxer is only as great as their opponent has the talent to allow them to be. Spence is a great fighter, but he faced a lot of guys that were advantageous to his style. He never really came across a guy that would try to make him pay for his tendency to overreach, or be spiteful enough to take care of his defensive lapse. Rewatching the Ugas fight is when I realized Spence was probably getting stopped, him throwing his 4 hook so wildly against an orthodox opponent and constantly breaking his base was a ridiculous mistake for a top level pressure fighter to be making, Ugas isn’t spiteful enough to put someone in their place for constantly overreaching because he’s a singular counterpuncher, Crawford creates his stoppages off of those mistakes. This is why I think Canelo is so great…Trout, Lara, Jacobs, Plant, and Saunders were all world class opponents who presented problems that could give them a boxers chance at beating Canelo, and Canelo beat all of them. Stopping Plant and Saunders in the same year. And Crawford had some flaws that could’ve been taken advantage of by Spence, but he ironed them out and made Spence fight as his own game until he had him reeled in. That’s what all time greats can do, I’m still waiting to see Errol handle a stylistic problem in great fashion🤷🏾‍♂️

Agree with the video. Crawford exploited Errol’s mistakes, but Errol was definitely weaker than he normally is. He had no power on his punches - at welter Errol isn’t a one punch knockout guy but his punches have thudding pop normally - in the Crawford fight they were definitely weaker than normal from the jump. Props to Bud. But it can be true both that Bud is great and also that Errol wasn’t at his best

New to your channel several months ago, I love your content; it's spot on. I am a southpaw and was looking forward to Bud stopping Spence, I practice and taught Filipino Martial Arts because the systems improved my southpaw footwork, particular, edged weapons where there are no do overs. I am alive because of FMA, it literally saved my life in two street encounters. Bud's superior footwork was key in that fight and Spence paid dearly for his reaching and lack of fundamental footwork which you beautifully pointed out. Spence is going to come in trying a lot of new tactics that are not really refined in a couple of months and if they don't work he will revert to what he knows out of desperation.

Thanks for setting things straight with video. I was saying when the Ugas fight happened, I was less impressed with Spence's performance and more surprised by Ugas' lack of aggression and that Crawford would make Soence pay uf he fought like that again. Ugas hardly jabbed or countered despite those being his two biggest weapons in the fight. Ugas let him get comfortable and tee off where Crawford made him pay everytime the ppportunity presented himself which was early and often.

Whilst I appreciate the flaws of Errol being exposed by bud, which were clear as a day. I feel like Errol started to believe in his own hype too much and got away from the fundamentals and skill that made him successful. Errol’s balance has been off after the accident and he never used to make as many mistakes as he does now. He definitely looked weak on the night and it’s his fault for being undisciplined gaining too much weight. I’m a Errol fan but you can’t use being drained as a excuse when you continuously become fat out of camp. He has a chance at redemption in the rematch and I’m glad he hasn’t made any excuses.

You'll see him with wide feet and struggling to move, it may have got worse, spence has always had balance issues, he's not faced many fighters smaller and quicker so it's not as clear.its easy to forget spence hasn't fought many fighters stylistically close to crawford so things which you might have saw on thay night wouldn't habe been exposed other nights. Spence wasn't his usual self that night. It was obvious even during the ringwalk. He looked tired before he started. Simply observing that he did the same things doesn't explain anything. People missed something about this fight going in… most of Crawford’s best connections are off jab counters. People get caught up in a lot of the details, but no matter what stance he’s in or what stance the opponent’s in, Crawford is always looking to punish people for jabbing. I honestly believe that all his different looks come down to him finding the safest and most effective way to counter the opponent’s jab.
