If we switched to approval voting, then everyone could vote for more than 1 candidate. CGP Grey explains it easily: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdiplaejutCYpnU.html

Wait--they showed this on FOX? 😂 Well, THIS liberal Democrat just posted to Facebook. I ❤ this!! The "Enemy" is NOT "Right" or "Left". The Enemy of Democracy is Authoritarianism. We can get thru this together. Unfortunately, regardless of the Nov 2 outcome, tough times are ahead--esp with pandemic. It's time to reach out a hand to our neighbors, to respect & treat each other with kindness & compassion. This is the UNITED States of America. Let's start acting like the inclusive family we are. ❤💙🇺🇸

I adore this ad entirely. im not the most educated on the subject, but can someone explain to something to me? I want to be civil, I think it will improve the country tenfold, but what if someone is trying to elect a person that wants to remove something that I see as a human right? Like for example, someone is trying to elect a person that wants to make guns illegal. I personally find that to be an undebatable and objectively bad thing, so say they do get elected and I’m forced to turn in my guns. I no longer see a way to be civil in that regard. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO START AN ARGUMENT, IM ASKING A LEGITIMATE QUESTION.
@hannyhawkins78043 жыл бұрын
Three things: 1. Congratulations for asking a genuine question and looking for a discussion, not an argument. This is what the world needs. 2. Is anyone in America really campaigning to ‘make guns illegal’? I don’t think so. Are you sure you’ve got the right information on their policies? Or is it what their opponent says about them? Don’t accept what their opponents say. Go read or listen to the candidate themselves to learn what their policies are. 3. From a life time of watching politics, I’ve learned this: single issue voting is a bad idea and leads to bad governance. Which British politician was it who, when asked what the biggest challenge in governing was, answered ‘Events, dear boy, events”. Ie, the biggest issues any leader will have to deal with during their time in power are NOT the issues they campaign on, for which they already have policies. The biggest tests are the unforseeeable ones: a war, a pandemic, a natural disaster, a domestic crisis, etc. We need to vote for people who are best equipped to deal with the unforseeable: do they have the character, the intelligence, the nimbleness, the ability to enlist allies, to persuade enemies, to unite the country in a crisis? Single issue voting doesn’t deliver this sort of leader. It does the opposite : degrades every other important issue in favor of just that one. This is never a good idea. Because when that unforseeable crisis arrives, the single-issue leader won’t be equipped to steer the country through it. If there is a single issue that you’re really motivated about, get involved in lobbying and persuasion of your fellow-Americans, to bring them around to your view. The laws that endure are the ones that are broadly supported. Controversial laws tend to be repealed or overturned when the other side of politics gains power. Anyway, that’s my view. I hope it helps.
