This video shows the last Sperry testing done on the Reading, PA Subdivision by the old Rail Test cars in 2000. These cars recorded information on paper tapes at a manned recording table located in the center rear of the car. The first car shown, SRS 125, was a Winton/EMC rail car originally built for the Lehigh Valley as their 26. It was extensively rebuilt and re-powered several times. The SRS 142 was a new-build car for Sperry in 1974. It differed from the older Winton cars in having individual bedrooms for the crew instead of an open bunk room. The rail testing process is shown as it was before the advent of hi-rail test vehicles with computerized equipment.
