He lit up when he talked about fathering that duckling. Just because somebody never received love, doesn't mean they cannot give so much love in return. Wishing David the best and all the happiness he so deserves.

It broke my heart to hear him say, at six years old, "..but why do you hate me, momma?" We ALL need validation from our parents/guardians or whoever has raised us. We look up to these adults and that is what gives us the confidence, in our lives. The truth is, we are all "broken" in some way.

I wonder if he realises his Duck loved him, and he was important to the Duck. He nurtured that Duck, and gave him everything he didn't have, he gave his time, companionship, he wasnt neglectful and when the time come for this Duck to move on, he sought the best place to meet his needs. I just noticed his favourite memory was providing what he didn't have to the duck. He is such a precious soul.love does not need to be linear, just a scatter of moments. I remember when I was younger & wondering why my mother didn’t want me, I was raised by my grandmother and she did an EXCELLENT job with me and did sooo much for me. I am now 22 years old and I can count on one hand how many times I have spoken to her. My self esteem was tore up and I felt so low. Everyone who came into my life and actually loved me, I ended up pushing them away. BUT, through a lot of prayer & a great support system I’m doing wayyy better. I wish my mother no ill will, but I’m content now with not having a relationship with her.

Taking into account his mother may not have ever known love to give to someone else. We don't know her upbringing and damage she carried over. That's why its called a CYCLE. His best words... can't say if life is or isn't fair. It's life. Move along with it. Nice to see he did to the best of his ability. A kind soul. He broke the cycle by not bringing a life into this world being unsure he understood LOVE --- to give it -- and didn't take on that responsibility with the uncertainty. Let's not judge his mom. He didn't. Maybe he realizes she was a broken person before his time and gave her grace. What a wonderful human he is.

@@catzee4720 I suppose then... you have much to say about the many on this channel who have had children themselves, not nuturing them, neglecting them, allowed them to get into an iffy foster system and or left them with their own abusers in some cases... or have no idea what abuse their children are enduring while they are destroying themselves in an attempt to manage / cope with their own abuse. I'm clear what WRONG is. But I find it interesting some of you will sympathize with these folks as they tell their stories, judge their parent(s) yet you dont and cant hear their own children's stories. As this gentlemen said...best lesson...don't judge. You or many or thousands thinking it's WRONG is not going to stop it. Or it would have stopped a long time ago and the world would be nice. It's generally learned behavior, passed along ... as normal....that is a web of issues difficult to unravel, with a FAMILY HISTORY. How do we stop it ? Stop judging. I couldn't help but feel sad when he said even the duck was taken away from him due to a psychiatrists opinion though. People have weirder shit going on in their homes, why can't this man just have a pet duck !?

David was such a pleasure to listen to. I felt various emotions for him; I cried, I smiled, I felt anger. To hear him say, " God cried when I cried 😢" and to be able to go through the life experiences that he has and not be bitter, is a gift. May God continue to bless this gentle soul.

I'm frankly amazed at this guy. He states that he is schizophrenic and bi-polar - and he's a spice addict - - and he talks this clearly and cogently? Then again, he mentions his faith in God, so I believe this is what is keeping this man's life together.

Oh, David! What a Blessing to start out my day with your interview! 😊 You made me smile because of how gentle and kind you seem. I Loved the story about your duck. I hope you can get a pet that is better suited for apartment living. I'm so sorry about the trauma you've been through. You're loved more than you know because anyone who would get to know you couldn't help but love you for the genuine person you are. People don't have to say they love you to have love for you. It's really about how they treat you with respect and compassion. Remember that. This grandma is sending you much love and hugs from Michigan.😊💖 (I hope we'll get to see another interview of you.)

Some humans can be so disturbing to their children. Imagine being 6yrs old and you hear that from your Mother/ Father. Your only advocate? Some things should just go unsaid. He would of felt very devalued as a child and that is very sad. Everyone deserves to feel valued. It should be a god given right and I’m not religious. Peace be with you brother... respect ✊🏼!!!!
