You've heard of 'girl power' but for Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, it's all about 'hair power'. With a head of hair so iconic she was named after it, Halliwell (now Horner) singlehandedly elevated ginger hair to the only hair colour we wanted during the 1990s, and still to this day. In short, her flame-coloured hair basically altered the course of beauty history.
'There is a connotation that comes with ginger; it's an attitude, there's a fire in you, you're outspoken,' Geri told ELLE UK while shooting our latest Beauty Truths episode at her home in Oxfordshire.
Whether she's a full blown brunette ('I was inspired by Angelina Jolie'), post-Spice Girls strawberry blonde ('leaving the Spice Girls [was] like leaving a marriage. Sometimes you see girls cut their hair when they leave a relationship - they want change - it kind of helps you move on'), or returning to red ('going back to red is like a comfort zone, it's a safe place, it feels authentic to me. It feels like home'), Halliwell is forever preaching the importance of 'hair power'.
