In this video, I share our simple spicy jalapeño relish recipe. With just 7 ingredients, you can make one of the most delicious and versatile condiments. Put some in the fridge for immediate use, or can the relish for long term storage. This stuff is delicious - sweet, spicy, crunchy - oh so good!
Let us know how you like this relish recipe. I like to use it on anything grilled, sandwiches, hot dogs (of course), or to spice up what would otherwise be bland food.

I made this this afternoon, using several different varieties of ripe jalepenos. Substituted 2T honey for the sugar and used apple cider vinegar. All I can can say is OMG! It is Delicious! 💕

Saving this recipe for next year's crops. I grew several varieties of hot peppers for the first time this year and had fun canning them into recipes. Next year I will grow more of some, less of others. Due to health issues, I was overwhelmed trying to harvest and process them all. I had no idea how easy it is to freeze them, too! A new freezer is a MUST on my list. Woman on a mission.

I really like condiments like this, and I have every ingredient in the house. Next burger is getting some of this! For something a bit similar but with the onion and pepper ratios reversed, often I add red jalapeños to caramelizing red onions. Stew that in some red wine and I add (don't shoot me) ketchup to sweeten it up. It's actually very tasty.

To put your relishes, etc in the jar you might use a canning funnel. I’ve had one for years and comes in handy to keep jar rim clean as well as speed things up. Maybe you have used one in previous videos but this is the first food prep video of yours I have watched.

You could play with food grade acids like ascorbic and citric to retain colour if that’s your thing. More pleasing to the eye if you are thinking of selling. Natural produces, if that is something that worries you.

A good-looking recipe there Bro! I live in New Zealand and this year I have grown my best ever crop of Jalapeños. They are in "mid-crop" at the moment, so I should get at least a couple of good jars! Can I add "jaggery" (Indian unrefined sugar) instead of refined sugar? Also, could I use other chilies for this recipe? I have heaps.

Buy a bottle of pepper relish and try it for yourself. A good batch isn't supposed to be sweet. Not sure where you are located but on the East coast we have what we call crushed red hots, which is more or less the same thing. It's used as a condiment for Italian subs and the like. Also they make dill pickle relish. I hate sweet pickles myself, don't consider them pickles.

I know this is off-topic from the video but I was curious if you had any ideas of inexpensive ways of fencing off a large pepper garden? Preferably a solution that isn’t going to potentially harm any animals while keeping them out. I’m loving your videos and I went wild on your Amazon recommendations on your website!

See if you can find some bamboo growing in your area, see if you can harvest it. Combine that with some cheap screen/shade screen. You could also try pallets, t-posts or a combination of all three.

White vinegar or white wine vinegar? 🤔
@diello1122
@diello1122 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, white 'distilled' vinegar is made from ethanol. It's cheap and good for washing windows, but not so much for food IMO. I find the harsh flavor unpleasant. Whenever I pickle or cook with vinegar, I'll reach for either rice wine vinegar for a neutral earthy flavor, or white wine vinegar for a more complex, fruity flavor. 'White Balsamic' vinegar is nice, but it's often sweetened so make sure you adjust your recipe if you use it. Upgrade your vinegar, and upgrade your recipe I say!
