We were invited to have authentic Jaffna kool in a locals village farm!
Our friends Ram, Siva, Thuva invited to their moms place to cook a delicious meal for us during our stay in Jaffna Sri Lanka.

We used to make Kool here in London with my wife’s Tamil cousins, 50ltrs huge pot, for the whole weekend, first we drink then eat then drink some more and eat some more - for 2 days 😂🥰✅

I was born in Jaffna went to school in Jaffna til grade 10 till I was 17. After that I migrated to Sydney and living the rest of my life away from Sri Lanka. Been back 4 times to visit my I’ll mother inJaffna. My gosh the journey was from Colombo to Jaffna in 1994 was a hell going through Sri Lankan Army/ LTTE check points. But I made the trip safely and saw my mother the last time in my life before she passed away. Non of the family members made the journey to Jaffna for my mother’s funeral. It was Red Cross did the last rites and informed us. Thank God Sri Lanka is much more safe now than during the 90s.

Hello nangi, just now I watched this video been busy with kids, oh my god that boy met you at keerimalai was so humble and I am proud the younger generation is appreciating each others company, he said he was your subscriber from when you had 100 now see....this is reality of life which brings you close to people, I am so proud to say I am from Jaffna and I am a mad fan of this kool, unfortunately here in the UK we only have this once in a moon 😄🙈 you are lucky you got to enjoy the very famous and healthy meal from Jaffan, also so pleased they didn't let you out without that fresh touch of kool, even the vegetarian soup is so healthy and happy that they treated you special aswell. Thanks for showing the world the true srilankans yes we are all one 🥰👍🙏

You and Johnny FD have put Jaffna kool on the world culinary map. Kool is an incredibly healthy and nutritious food. Almost 100% organic and only natural ingredients are used in the preparation. Since I left Sri Lanka more than 30 years ago, I was fortunate to have had it only two or three times. Many can make kool, but only a few can make it perfect! I miss those days. It is a recipe passed down from one generation to another.

I was in Atchuveli, Soil is red and they say is best in Jaffna, I still remember, sitting under a Karthakolabu mango tree and eating a fresh mango. Wow! I am glad you got to know the Jaffna people. Can you ever believe that they wanted a blood bath all that they wanted was to live in harmony. Politicians are still struggling to create division among us so they can thrive. Journalists like you can convenience other ethnic groups, that the people of Jaffna are friendly and has no enmity against Sinhalese. On the other hand, they are hard-working people & have hardly any time for gossip. Did you have the chance to drink a cup of fresh Palmyraha toddy? They tap the spadix of the male Palmyra tree to draw a toddy and the fruit of the female tree is used to tap toddy from the female tree. The kernel of palmyra fruit is delicious and so is the water. By the way, they have a special kind of young coconut fruit, used by Pussaris for temple Pujas', Its color is green when you cut the top the color is rose color & the water is delicious. @@Sheneller There is a festival called ‘Aadi Pirappu’ (Monsoon Festival) celebrated in Jaffna. Check Wikipedia for more details. A special Kool is made on that day as well to mark the day.
