Hey Spicy . Had a close call this morning on the way home from nights . Chap had not seen me and pulled out under me . As close as it gets . My point ? I think about my riding a lot and when I don’t and take my eye off the ball then that’s when it reminds me . Don’t switch off . If you are not right to ride , don’t . Skills are there to practice, wide and varied . Don’t forget the correct mindset . Tired ? Angry ? Preoccupied? Think about another time or day . And if you can’t , never switch off .

i found my years of mountain biking (whether off-road or on the road) had given me a good base to understand how two-wheels work - seems to be serving me well so far. Another good vid, chap!

i feel the same way rode mountain bikes for years and used to ride to work everyday on a push bike. recently got on a motorbike and feel the skills have some what transferred over and riding roads for years prior has certainly made me more aware of the idiots in cages

A friend of mine has done the advanced riding courses and says that I'd pass easily from his observations of my riding... And I have considered it... But one pattern I have found amongst the advanced motorcycle folk is this mindset of 'making progression' which often looks like caning it around bends chasing the limit point and generally not having a nice tootle around. My friend rides like this and it's just not something I'm interested in really... But something I would need to do to pass. I've done all that, used to have a supersport bike and these days I just ride with the flow of traffic and rarely overtake and only filter when everything is stationary. I will say that I was in the police for a number of years, but didn't have my bike license then. So the driving courses I did have some carry over. We had the same on those courses... During the non blue light part of training we were always pushed to chase the limit point, drive 3 to 4 mph over the speed limit (this was before sat nav and folks realising that manufacturers set the speedos to read a couple of mph faster than you're actually doing) overtake wherever possible.... And this obviously got ramped up during the blue light phase. Another excellent video btw 🎉 Now I totally get why we needed to do that then... But from listening to friends that have done advanced motorcycle courses... The approach is the same.. probably because many of the instructors are ex police. And these days that's just not the style of riding I'm interested in.

hey spicy just want to say you are a good teacher though, and i have to say you definitely inspired me to get on 2 wheels and riding motorbikes. I cant remember how long ive followed your channel but its been a pleasure watching and finally getting on my journey with 2 wheels. Your videos on CBT and learning gears is clear and idiot proof at least for me maybe team up with learner schools and see if they would use your videos on their website and socials you will probably get more traffic to those videos and possibly new subs

When practising your slow riding, I’d advocate not having your finger(s) on the front brake lever as human reaction when you think you are over-balancing is to grab the lever. If you are not completely upright or the road is inclined, this action will greatly assist you in dropping your pride & joy. Set the revs raised a little to avoid a stall, don’t mess with the throttle, use clutch as necessary and drag the rear brake a little to offset the forces acting on the machine and control speed. As always, look where you want to go. Not trying to be patronising just trying to help and yes, I have done a lot of slow riding.

@@gizmo6164 Haha noooo nothing bad it is just very depended on my answer to that as new riders are taught to not cover the front brake. So as I just said new riders are taught to not cover the brake or use it in slow control for the reasons you stated, I am not a new rider, I have been riding on the road for over 16 years and have made many videos on slow control, as I really push the skill. In fact I made a slow control challenge video and one person entered haha. The point I am getting to is when you have been riding a long time your ways may differ to other riders but that doesn't make them wrong. I am not about to make a new rider mistake grabbing the front brake and I can deal with throttle control. Honestly, your comment felt a little bit like you were disregarding the fact I am trying to balance a bike at a stand still and talking to me like a new rider. Totally get that may have not been your intention but It came across like that. Maybe enter my challenge! Spicy110 Slow control challenge! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mZeeaMaGv8yxoZ8.html

I do emergency stop and swerve / slow speed drills every Wednesday not more than 20 minutes or so and I take at least one course a year sometimes two (been getting into off-road). I have taken the MSF teacher course. I have no interest in teaching motorcycle school. Maybe when I have retired and have nothing better to do.

Although it is hilarious watching you wiggle when you are trying not to put your feet down may I make a Suggestion not Training Advice, I use a method I like to call Locking the Bike Down, it can maybe fry your clutch a little bit but you are already slightly slipping it anyway, it will take practice, and I won’t say exactly how to do it obviously, so using the controls you are already using stop as straight as possible using 1 brake slightly applying 2 Hand controls and gripping the Tank , I am sure you will figure it out. Finesse is key , works best with a Torkie motor. Freaks drivers out to😂

ayup... I don't know who told you to take the hand off the throttle to signal right, but we both know a: that's wrong and b: that's not what's taught and c: that's not what the law says you have to do to signal right on a motorbike.

Putting out videos on Advanced Riding is really a big NO NO. Like you said it’s open to wrong interpretation and you could get yourself into serious trouble. Teaching Advanced is a adaptive thing as some riders are good at certain elements while others struggle. It is also something that should be done on a 1 2 1 basis. Your videos are good as they are. Also every rider is still learning even old duffers like me.
