carrastealth Venom IS supposed to be funny but finding the right balance between humorous and menacing is tricky and should only be attempted by professionals. The people who made this game did a fantastic job up until the Spider-Man/Venom team-up. Then Venom turns into a clown. Venom (2018) is what happens when amateurs take the helm.

As much as I agree with that, there’s really just a few differences here. In the movie, it’s telling Venom’s origin. Whereas in the game, Venom is a well established character who doesn’t really sound like he’s holding a grudge against Spidey anymore. This is a Venom who is quirky and jokey because his placement in the timeline allows him to be. In the movie though, it looks like they’re trying to fit both this Venom and the origin of Venom in one, and it just doesn’t seem consistent. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but it doesn’t look bad by any means. The trailer reminded me of THIS Venom, but once I thought about it, it just doesn’t fit with Venom’s origin which was just pure hatred and cynicism towards Spider-Man. When the first official trailer dropped for Venom, I thought they were going to make like a super-hero horror movie with the darkish cinematography and intense scenes with Brock struggling with the symbiote, which I thought would’ve fit perfectly with the attitude Venom has with his origin. But then, the jokes started coming and then I got confused as to what this movie was going to be. By the looks of the reviews, that seems to be the main problem of the film. I still wanna see it so I can place my final judgement, but that’s my opinion on everything I’ve gathered so far.

Sorry but that line was just trying too hard. It's really that cringe. However, Venom is still pretty cool in the film.
