It's still my favorite version of Spidey with my favorite voice actor for him. Josh Keaton was perfect for him after doing Harry in the first movie game. I do love the villains of this show. Peter is really flawed. The Lizard episode shows that he deflected the blame onto Spider-Man when the problems stemmed from Peter's issues and his mistakes. Green Goblin, Sandman, Vulture, Doc Ock, Rhino and more are just done amazing in this show. I love this show so much

If you watch closely at 29:34 the glass of the tank shattered, causing Max to be in direct contact with the water and the eels. Spider-Man the animated series and this show are my two favorites. The 90s show is an Homage to romita, ron frinez and gil Kane spiderman. While also showing love to at that point current Spidey. With McFarland, Bagley and David Michelleine stories. Spectacular shows tremendous love to ditko Spidey down to animation and stories. While sprinkling some rami and ultimate Spidey in there as well. It's a crime it got the axe. I love them both in their own ways.

I just wanna talk about how much I love Spectacular Electro since I bearly see anyone do that plus this Electro shows why this show did great with the villains (besides that Kraven abomination) as I genuanly feel bad everytime he appares because I don't want him beat up I want him helped So we see our buddy Max who has a bit of a sarcastic ego but is friendly and speaks in a soft spoken voice but little does he know that a simple gig at night will FOREVER change his life.and then right after Peter and co(Besides Eddie) leave he gets BRUTALLY electrocuted flailing about in the air as he is forced to absorb the electricity and is BARLEY alive. We then see him rushed to the hospital tritching trying to fight something as if a beast is being realesed from inside of him and we get a sign of that beast one the doctor tries to touch him and gets zap. The next time we see him he's tranformed into this monster human/electricty hybride as if a lightning bolt took the shape of a human and is isolated and alone and for the safety of others is forced to be locked away with the promise of a cure. Then he can't even do thing such as watch a game or drink a cup of coffee which pretty much means his only use in the world is fighting but the real kicker for me is when he tells Eddie about how he planned out his life such as go back to collage meet someone and start a family but he can't now as a supernatural being. This causes Spiderman to attack him since his electric hair is flying about the pace and he mocks him by calling him "Electro" not at all understanding how bad Max's life had gotten with the possability of not being able to be normal every again. He then threatens Conners and Eddie for a cure as he now has the police after him combined with the amount of pain his powers give him and when Conners doesn't apply and Spider-rman appaers trying to help Max believed their tricking and lieying to him and he declares that without a cure he's NOT Max Dilion and takes that very name one of his tormentors once called him and turns it into a name that means you better run. In the final battle all Hell breaks loose and he makes it very clear HE IS GOING TO KILL SPIDER-MAN EVEN IF IT IS THE LAST THING HE DOES Peter then gets hit with hella rage from Max as he no longer holds back the true extent of his powers and is forced to throw him into a pool in order to survive showing he can't take him in a one v one boxing match. Then he teams with Doc Ock who he believes is the one person who can save him and help the othe Sinister Six and through the series we see he is the most loyal member to Otto and when it looks like he turned good again he is heartbroken but when Master Planner come to play he id double loyal this goes until they all get defeated once more and the last time we see him he is in an insane asylum going "Don't know anyone named Max my name's Electro ELECTRO I TELL YOU" While rushing toward the window knowing Conners is there and remembering all the hate he has arose from him They gave this man who is a side character a whole ass story in just two seasons and played out perfectly as you can understand where he's comming from and how this must fell and like Peter I love how he didn't choose his powers. Also bring back Crisp Freeman

About the Tombstone issue, he has beaten him before the current run. Even the 90s Spider-Man show had Tombstone over power Spidey and even in the comics, he almost beat Peter to death. I will say Tombstone's character interactions is strong with Spidey and Hammerhead, but weak due to no interaction with Robbie. Robbie was just done so much better in the 90s show.

Whenever the debate comes up regarding which Spider-man show should be revived, specifically between TAS and Spectacular, I always vouch for Spectacular. So much was being set up and it got canned before it could even reach it's peak. TAS had it's time, and while it ended on a cliffhanger with plans to keep going, it ran a pretty healthy run.

One thing that I don't see people comment on very often is a thing that slightly annoys me about this version of the Goblin: He's too sane. He is comic accurate, flying around giggling, throwing bombs like a maniac, with pretty much no rational reason to do what he does - and then suddenly, in the last episode,the mask comes off and his personality flips 180% to be this cold, calculating mastermind that is calm, fully humorless and serious. I get that the Goblin can be both Lex Luthor and the Joker of Marvel, either as a split personality, a kind of mood-swinging bipolarity or just different facets if a complex character... but in this show they really go out of their way to tell you that all the wacky Goblin craziness was a ruse or an act, and that he's fully sane. In fact, the way he got his powers isn't even the Green Goblin, it's Roderick Kingsley's Hobgoblin - a character also known as "Green Goblin but sane". I dunno. It kinda bothers me a bit.
@michealmahmoud6391
@michealmahmoud6391 Күн бұрын
I don’t mind. In the comics, Green Goblin insanity only increases over time due to his growing obsession with Spider-Man. Plus it takes a new route from the dual identity that the 90’s series and Raimi movies popularized. Green Goblin was a master planner and devious criminal mastermind that other shows or comics never get to adapt. Plus the show adds a new caveat, is he insane and he actually in denial, or was he sane the whole time , which is a fun thing to ponder and see.

As much as I adore this show and I do agree it is perhaps the best Spiderman adaptation, I will say one of f my only minor critiques of the show is how they adapted Kraven and how they made him an animal hybrid, which is an "interesting" way to adjust the character, but much like you Im not really a fan of how they made Kraven so willing to become a hybrid. Fortunately, we got a better take on Kraven, as shown in Insomniac Spiderman 2, giving us the best take on Kraven the Hunter yet.

I think Spectacular Gwen is fleshing out elements 616 Gwen (science major, the outgoing queen) and elements of Ultimate and showing what Gwen would be like in High School (the proverbial ugly duckling to beautiful swan). The Green Goblin/Spidey is one of the best relationships. Their dynamic is perfect. A mix of humor and natural hate. Also it makes sense why Black Cat is mad at Spidey. She doesn’t know Peter’s personal relationship with Walter, she just knows her father is locked up and she just wants to be with him. But Spidey denied her that. It creates drama and a new dynamic for future episodes we unfortunately never get to see.

Starting in November 2023, I actually made the insane decision to read all the 616 Spider-Man books from the 60s to present day because I'm a Spider-Man fan and I felt I owed it to my #1 Superhero to actually, y'know, read his comics to see how we got here. Even now, I'm not done (But I'm also on a bit of a break after finishing the Clone Saga back in January), but I'm in the 90s. As for Norman Osborn having a father-son dynamic with Peter? Not...really? Unless some issues in the future retcon the relationship, Peter and Norman did not have a father-son relationship at all. Heck, Peter didn't even talk to Norman much. ASM#39-40 is when Norman Osborn is revealed as the Green Goblin AND he discovers that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, but #40 has Norman lose his memory (he briefly gets it back in Issue 2 of the Spectacular Spider-Man Magazine... the magazine, not the comic or show... but then he gets his memory back again for the death of youknowwho in #121). In ASM #96, while Norman's memory is gone (after Issue 2 of SSM Magazine which took place after the #66-67 Mysterio fight), he offers Peter a job at his company and is pretty affable to him. That's...literally all we get. I'm not counting Issue 2 of SSM Magazine because he had his Goblin persona on the whole time. In fact, that whole dinner scene in that magazine was adapted in Spider-Man TAS (90s) and boy did I love that in hindsight~ But yeah, no father-son dynamic here. I think the Raimi film started that trend. Not even Ultimate Spider-Man (comics) had it and the Raimi film took quite a bit from this comic much like the Spectacular show did. In the USM comics, Norman is very untrustworthy to Peter (and Aunt May) even before he turned himself into hulking Green Goblin. Personally, I think Spectacular Green Goblin takes quite a bit from Hobgoblin: . Taking the formula in GASEOUS form so he can maintain his sanity? Check. . Pinning the identity of the supervillain on other people, including a blood-relative? Check. . Making Peter think for a long time that this guy was the supervillain when they weren't? (Harry and Ned Leeds) Check. . Having a bunch of henchmen lackeys? ...Okay, technically, even the Green Goblin had some lackies but that was under Harry's tenure in the comics (although Norman DID try but he was too good and accidentally screwed himself over). Hobgoblin was more explicit in having thugs do his dirty work so... Check? . There's also the fact that Norman deduces that Harry's recent successes was because he ingested the formula and Norman himself literally says "I told you it was because of the Green. But I wasn't foolish enough to drink it." so in a sense, he used Harry as a fall guy to test the formula. Similarly, Hobgoblin used flunkies to test the formula, absolutely refusing to take it himself until he knows for sure he can keep his sanity since he knew that the "deceased" Norman was very much insane with his Goblin persona creeping in at times. So check that too? I've made my point, but Hobgoblin WAS gonna show up in Season 3 and we saw Kinglsey in Season 2 so I wondered how they would've adpated that. Maybe he's a red-herring and they were gonna have Jason Macendale show up like in TAS. Or maybe they dig deep in the comic's lore and bring in Lefty Donovan. I mean, the show freakin' brought in BLACKIE GAXTON; a guy who showed up ONE TIME in the comics! (ASM #11) The show gave him more appearances than his comic counterpart, good lord.

You know the best adaption is the 2017 show. *Stares mockingly at symbiote Goblin while letting Lizard roam freely in campus after revealing his identity to the school board* That show helps remind me what we lost with this Spectacular show getting discontinued post season 2.

I HATE that we didn't get seasons 3 and even a forth on but I til love what we got(Besides Kraven' madigascar shit and Black Cat being petty at the end)Electro is sympathetic my man Sandman just out here ballin and they actually did evil Venom right (Spiderman 3 take notes though this came out a year after you did) the who's who Goblin story line but just a damn shame we didn't get Carnage had this show went on longer and remove the Kraven bullshit and Black Cat's pettiness this is the DEFINATIVE Spiderman

It wasn't accurate, but definitely loved the reimagining. Like the Enforcers. Montana becoming Shocker and Fancy Dan becoming Ricochet. Missed opportunity was Ox becoming Rhino. Tombstone being the Big Man which I think escalated him as a mob boss from an enforcer in the comics. Mysterio and Chameleon where also great re imaginings

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed the show’s adaptation of Kraven? Yeah I know it’s not all that accurate after he gets turned into a mutant but he was still pretty cool and threatening. I never understand people who hate on this version.
@alch_emist
@alch_emist Ай бұрын
I personnally wouldn't say I "enjoyed it" but the only reason I don't hate this version of Kraven is because I can't stand regular humans beating Spider-Man like it was nothing. I need an actual explanation as to why the hero that can lift a car is losing to a guy with a knife and a bow. If they went with him resorting to potions/artifacts take him stronger I wouldn’t have complained either.

I think the only reason most people consider The Spectacular Spider-Man to be the best adaptation is because of the handful of villains that are not in the show in many people had fun depicting what villains would be in the show next there are a lot of villains missing from the show play hobgoblin Carnage Hydro man scorpion you know those villains but we did see their human counterparts in the show

Spectacular Spider-Man is literally the best writing & arguably the best exacted rendition of the Web Slinger. My only gripe was the art style 😕. Watching the 94 versions as a child and this as an adult, that less realistic dimensions of The Spectacle Spider-Man lol 😂was just kinda off putting…..YET still I feel the better overall Spider series. It is a Classic and was and still is ahead of its time 🥰, an Amazing Show !

I really hope and praying to God that there will be new seasons if The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series will finally return?! Why you all ask? Because ever since I saw episode 25 and 26 back on 2009, I was very sad & pissed that the show ended up very badly with an anticlimactic ending! And I really hope that Spider-Man from Earth-26496 will find a way to make Felicia Hardy the Black Cat forgive him of his selfish revenge on her father; Walter Hardy the Cat Burglar. Cause I realized that in the grand calculus of the Multiverse, all the Ben Parkers that said to his nephew Peter “With great power, there must also come great responsibility” and that’s on the day he died. Witch means his Uncle Ben didn’t die for nothing. And I really love this version of Black Cat on The Spectacular Spider-Man, because she’s so scolding hot!

You're forgetting something that feel essential to me especially about Vulture and Montana (the man behind the shocker mask) while Vulture is not accurate in origin he was the first supervillain Spidey fought in the comics and the executioners Montana leads before becoming the shocker were also amongst his earlier antagonist. While this kind of accuracy to the source doesn't seem to fit into the narrow criteria you have set for this video I think they should be aknowledged as this kind of detail still show a lot of dedication from the creators.

@@spidermania I hope it did not sound too harsh but it took being obsessed with the show and randomly rereading early Spidey to notice those guys are madmen enough so the first episode reflects the actual fist issue featuring a supervillain. I'm pretty sure an even more scholarly spider-fan as yourself might find out the show doing this at other moments, keeping villain introduction in order or adapting directly little stuff outside of the main plot of some episodes I suspect them to be crazy this way. Last fun fact I wasn't aware of was the cop partner of Dewolfe being named after Sin-eater, the level of teasing and the way they introduce key characters long before they become relevant is impressive.

Spectacular Hammerhead is okay with being #2? I haven’t rewatched the show in 2 years, but I’m pretty sure he tried to manipulate Doc Ock, Silvermane, and Tombstone into killing each other so he could be #1.
@spidermania
@spidermania 2 ай бұрын
He did all that and says “with them all out of the way hammerhead will be the new Big man” But after it’s resolved tombstone goes and finds goblin and says “I knew hammer head could never show this kind of ambition” then the remainder of the show green goblin is the new big man . He says he’s doing it for himself but it’s a misdirection. We see previously Osborn already trying to coherence Hammerhead into changing his allegiance. This is of course just my take you do have grounds to believe hammerhead showed ambition! Appreciate you watching

I disagree with 616 Tombstone not being portrayed near Spidey’s level. After his amp, he had to cover his hand with a thick wad of webbing to knock him out. Tombstone also goes somewhat relative with Luke Cage who is stronger and more durable than Peter.

Okay, so the whole thing of Norman seeing Peter as a son actually comes from The Revenge of the Green Goblin from 2002. It's spun (pun intended) across all three ongoing Spider-Man titles at the time, and was written by Roger Stern, Howard Mackie, and Paul Jinkins. In it, Normal saw Peter as the rightful heir to the Goblin Mantle, far more worthy than Harry ever was. He kidnaps Peter , and tortures him in the hopes of breaking his mind enough to drink the goblin serum. The relationship is obviously one sided, and Peter eventually escapes and one of the best Spider/Goblin fight ensues. AS is said, it is very one sided, as Peter wants nothing to do with Osborn and his legacy, except to end it, but it is the first time in the 616 comics that we see Norman view Peter as a son... in a really twisted Normal Osborn kind of way. For the full story, see Spider-Man: Revenge of the Green Goblin #1-3, Amazing Spider-Man #25 (vol.2), and Peter Parker: Spider-Man #25 (vol.2).

I feel like Spectacular's version of Kraven is partially based off of the Ultimate version of Kraven. He starts off weak, alters his genetics with animal DNA, and then joins the Sinister Six. It still isn't a great adaptation of that version, but there are at least some more similarities.

The goal isn’t to shit on a show for being bad it’s just to point out adaptations from comics and how they differ and if they are accurate. I’ve seen a good amount of ultimate but it adapts both 616 and ultimate comics so much it’s so weird. It’ll be a tough video for sure
