He has literally explained it in a video. He keeps his pets separate from the yaks that will be used for meat. He runs a business that sells meat, just like any other farm, can't do that without animals to slaughter to get said meat. They are clearly taken care of. People can say what they want about Jeffrey as a person, but when he does something, he puts his all in and quality is important to him

My guess is he has his pets and he has his breeding and food stock. As long as he's treating the animals well, I don't see an issue here. Animals should not be used for makeup testing. That's cruel. Animals raised with the intention of food from the get go is different. He doesn't torture them by testing things on them, and he probably uses humane ways to obtain the yak meat without putting the animals in prolonged pain. I don't see anything strange also. Many people prefer Cruelty Free and vegan makeup because they think of makeup as a luxury thing. There's no need of it, it's a pleasure, but not a necessity. There's no need of testing in animals or use them as sources for makeup. Feeding, on the other hand, is necessary. You need to feed to live, and I don't have any problem with eating meat. We're omnivorous after all. Jeffree never claimed to be vegan, although his brand is. I think that, in fact, is pretty ethical not using animals for our pleasure but using them for meat, which is the circle of life. And in fact, even the yaks he uses for meat are incredibly well treated according to the meat industry standars. Where do they people think that meat grows? In trees?

Honestly there's nothing really wrong with what Jeffrey is doing nowadays. That's very normal for Farmers/Ranchers to do. And he's not treating them cruelly. The animals seem to live a good life on the farm compared to what other industries do. In the grand scheme of things I think it's good that Jeffrey is going a different direction in life. Moved away from all the toxicity and is just trying to start over in some ways. Got to give the guy some credit he knows how to keep going even when The world turns against him.

Regardless if one's agreeing with the choice it's hardly surprising. I am a vegetarian, that has nothing to do with it. I don't get how people could not have thought this was going to happen. A person buys a farm. And livestock. How tf did anyone think they weren't going to get sold or slaughtered for meat. It's highly unlikely that enough people will stop eating meat to make this not a profitable business anymore so I am much happier with farms like this where the animals live happily and are well cared for than these aweful mass-raising, mass-slaughtering businesses.

So, it's not about what we need, we basically just thrive for the same thing! We need iron, we need vitamins, etc etc. But you can't tell someone to educate themselves when it is pretty much a fact already that our body does need iron and most common way is to eat meat. Alternatives may be available so maybe some people would be, "we don't need this" but it is pretty much a personal choice, really :). Cashier: Oooo, are you gonna try to hatch it? Me: No. I’m gonna eat it. Cashier: Even better! So, for dinner today, I’m having an egg I found on the ground and a chicken that I probably used to know. Of course, not everyone has to get their food directly from the source, but I feel like it’s a bit extreme to shame someone for doing so when it’s pretty normal, especially in the countryside.

Honestly, everything I've ever heard about Jeffree Star has been so insanely negative that it's mindblowing. Him going to a ranch in Wyoming, deciding to raise yaks to sell their wool for yarn, and sell their meat is, in my eyes, something positive finally. I see no problem with him breeding, raising, and sending his yak's to slaughter because he's a Rancher now and this is just one of the many things Ranchers do. Ranchers have been doing these same practices for hundreds of years, why should we shame him for something that Ranchers have always done?

I am proud of him and every person who decides to take responsibility to do better for themselves and to change the world through inner growth and reflection instead of staying in this blame-everyone else mentality. Seeing him end up farming them isn’t as surprising as the amount of people I’ve seen come out and self report themselves for not knowing where meat comes from. And as little faith I have in Jeffery’s character, I actually think his farm yaks are having a way better time than typical meat farms, cause most of them are down right horror factories. I just hope he doesn’t go down the road of sacrificing his yaks welfare for production output, but he makes enough money so he wouldn’t need to, right? >_>

I don't know, I see this situation from two minds I guess. I was very upset when I first learned that he was selling Yak meat. I myself am a vegetarian, I am not against farming as I myself raise chickens for eggs and consume butter, cheese and milk. However, I don't see the point in eating meat and taking lives when it's not necessary. There is too much good food out there for us now that doesn't require ending a life that I can't rationalize eating meat for the impact it has on individual animals and on the environment we all live in. However, I know that not everyone feels that way and for those who still eat meat having clean and healthily raised meat from animals that have been afforded the best environment possible is important so I respect that he is doing this in the best way possible. I just really wish he wasn't doing it at all, if I'm honest.
