Spirit Adrift on boundaries with Gatecreeper, going from doom to heavy metal | Aggressive Tendencies

We caught up with Nate Garrett and Chase Mason of Spirit Adrift (and Gatecreeper) to talk about the differences between their two bands, if there's ever any bleed between the two and why Chase takes on a co-producer role, refusing to learn the songs until the last possible minute. They discuss the project's beginning as an anonymous solo project (on 'Behind - Beyond' and 'Chained to Oblivion') to a full band on 'Curse of Conception' to upcoming LP 'Divided by Darkness.' Nate explains his idea for the band's growth from doom to more of the heavy metal he grew up listening to (Metallica, Slayer, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, etc.) came when driving for Pallbearer on a tour with Baroness and was initially a bit of a joke but became reality. They talk about judgmental Christians, why religion is like science fiction, being psychic post-mushroom trip, making layered music and why Chase doesn't care about lyrics for Gatecreeper. Interview filmed when the band were in Toronto for their show at Hard Luck Bar on August 7, 2018.

Initially this video had Nate as vocals and Chase as guitar. Nate is vocals AND guitar, while Chase is bass. We regret the error.

I love the last comments by Chase because I can totally relate. The riffs are the most important thing when it comes to music I like, more specifically death metal, while the lyrics are the last thing I think about.

IL FAUT RAPPELER que le style fétischiite est pas ipie ,juste des évenements de prises de connaissance de ils ont un zizi ? sinon,je trouve que avant ,on allais au coiffeur pour une permanante friser pour se la peter encore ,mais ,no sexe concour ,un milieux typiquement masculin ,ou la femme est l object de désir et aussi objection de conscience ,etre cocu est désastre ,mes technique de chants est technique moine cocu ,pas sodomite ,plustot sadou ,pas saducéens ,no,mais ils y as un plus large fétischiisme av jc ,la contemporalité est bien peut ,je trouve que le sama ou zeckr ou sabbath ,la sorcellerie est pas n importe quoi ,et que la chasse aux sorcieres n est plus ,quel domage ?!!!!!!
