There's also a whole new generation, right now, that KNOW that MY generation had the pleasure of growing up in the LAST of the GOOD TIMES, in the '60s and '70s, and that we had the music that LIVES ON. If anyone needs to sit down, it's only the people who think that the new music beyond the year 2000, is anything to brag about. Sorry, it's not.

Montery12 ..No worries bout the "HATERS", they don't have anything better to do with their lives. Look at Chuck Berry before he died..RIP, chuck was great, though he didn't sound so good in his latter years, he still attracted many a people, so the same thing with Norman. Hey, I'd still go see him. Thing is, he would have to open for a band that has much more material to perform so they could put on a whole concert. Norman has that one song, God Bless him.

On the day of my mothers funeral i was driving around playing this song on repeat at full volume. Eventually the speakers blew. I'm old, not gray, sometimes need a cane, but still love rock!

I LOVE that song. I met Norman's son on the Alaska Railroad from Denali to Anchorage in June of 2018. He was/is a train conductor. He had a contest while we were riding in his car to name the author of "Spirit in the Sky" and I got it. My "prize" was a rusty railroad spike! I still have it.

This song...played over & over at Stan's Arcade(Janesville, Wisconsin)juke-box back in 1969-1970, & *every* time it came on, it was a *thrill* to hear it! Now...ir brings back awesome memories playing pool, pinball & basketball at Stan's! Stan passed away 9/9/2020; May he forever R I P & be acknowledged in Heaven for all that he did for the kids by having his Arcade for us to hang out at!

That sounds rather corny to me. And it's not a Christian rock song. It's simply a song about a concept he was thinking about while watching a western tv show. He never said it was a Christian song, and until he does - I think you need to be more honest, and just call it a great song.

Nice! Your dad sounds like me. My collection of music is so eclectic. The very 1st"45" I bought was the theme to Hawaii 5-0. I was 10. From there it went to everything from the Andrew Sisters to yes, Ms. Donna Summer as well, and then some. And Deanna, TY! For your donation, to continue to educate and help the medical society. I didn't mention, my gig will be a party, but I'm actually going to the David Geffen School of Medicine. For 3 yrs. Then, they will put me in the Easy Bake, and scatter me in the ocean. Which is kinda freaky, because I don't know how to swim! You so sound like someone I would love to know. Have a very woderful, safe New Year. Fair play to Norman for putting himself out there and for carrying on doing what he's always loved to do, even though his singing voice is obviously long-gone- (and please believe me when I say that I mean that with no rudeness or disrespect whatsoever to Norman or to any other singer of around his age). I just find it so sad to hear what time does to a once, tip-top singer's voice- (through no fault of their own), and that goes for even the most amazing singers, as the years go by. Old age sucks, man! Fair play to ya, Norman, old son. Don't let it get ya down, man, 'cos I still think ya rock, regardless, dude, as do most of us here, by the looks of it. Rock on, me old son. 😎

He's lucky to be still kickin' at all. A year before this video was recorded he'd been involved in a traffic accident that nearly killed him. It _did_ kill a motorcyclist. He was a passenger in a car that turned left in front of a bike - you know the rest. I'm guessing the cane he's carrying here was a remnant from the injuries he sustained in the wreck.

DAMN!!!!! I'm impressed!!! The guy is now 80 years old and he still sounds pretty good! Most singers start losing their voice in their 50's, after awhile they DON'T sound much like their original songs (I could name some WELL known artists, but I'll refrain).

My 88-year-old mother has Alzheimer’s. This was her favourite song. She made a tape with only that song on it and would play it in her car. She was a fantastic artist and musician. And when she’s down or afraid we put this song on and she begins to clap and she said, “the music is coming right out of his fingers and that’s when music Is best like they are the instrument. “That was a couple of weeks ago. I know we are going to play this song at her funeral when that time arrives. For now this song gives her immediate joy most of the time and I am forever grateful for that. And also it’s just a damn great sounding song.
