Interesting. I barely watched this show (was older than the target audience), but from what I know of the Spirit Character, Sinclair and Overton are the perfect parents. But you didn't have to use standardized MLA parenthetical quotes. 😂😂🤣 you forgot to put the year.

Letting go of Spirit and Diane was a huge mistake the creators made, and they basically removed Flex too. They were crucial to the vibe of the show and the reason why it only lasted one season after. That show could've lasted 10 seasons.

Upn was also sabotaging the show because they wanted a white audience so she got out at the right time tbh.

They wanted to tell Brianna’s story so removing characters is the correct thing to do but they removed the characters in the wrong way. It felt like the were just getting rid of the characters they didn’t want to write anymore and not that those characters had moved on. For instance, if Dwayne got sick and dies then Flex commits suicide the night before Brianna goes back home from college to visit and console him so he can get through it. He does this because he’s now truly alone. The 2 most important people in his life are no longer around. Then Brianna has to deal with that and she leans on arnez to do this. Then you tell the story of Brianna and arnez as they grow into adulthood together.

@@madwheelsgaming2360 They removed the wrong people, that was the problem. One on One wasn't just about Brianna and Arnez...Flex, Duane, and Spirit were main characters. Remove them and the vibe changes. Brianna had a story but that didn't mean they had to stop Flex's story. They dropped the ball on a classic show, no excuses for that bs.

Spirit was to Kyla Pratt what Countess was to Brandy, she helped make the show what it was. The first four seasons of _One on One_ have replay value, while it's last season doesn't. Same thing with _227_ once they put Dylan (the white dude) and the other characters on the show. I never watch the last season of that show either.

“Spirit” and “Duane” and what Sicily and Kelly brought to those roles really made One on One such an amazing experience and gave it so much replay value. No disrespect to Kyla, Flex and Robert. Sometimes these networks are so out of touch and have no clue what or who people love in a show. There’s so many supporting characters/actors who really made these shows special!

Everyone loved Spirit's character on the show. When she left, I remember reading that her character was eliminated because she had started to develop and could no longer pass for being the ages that she was portraying. She had started to blossom into the womanly features. We still loved her with Briana.

I love Spirit! Her character was it for me, I felt like Spirit is one of the few Black characters that aligns with how I am. Not a caricature but a 3 dimensional, funny, talented, well dressed and caring character who had that vibrant energy. So many shows get it wrong and make that kind of character the butt of jokes, sadly.

I remember running into Spirit and her mom all the time at Best Buy in the Antelope Valley. She was so down to earth, just like her character on the show, and always spoke when she seen us. Too many celebrities nowadays forget that without us they would be nothing.

The network wanted to change the show for a different reason & audience, etc. The connection & vibe of the originals was what made the show successful! They use an actor/actress until they’re not needed anymore than blame them or the audience instead of taking responsible for their decision.

Just goes to show that the "behind the scenes people don't know much. Spirit was just as important as all the other characters. Plus is rare that the changes make the project fair well or better.

Spirit role was relatable, I think alot of us a had a girl like spirit in high school. I know I did, how dare they say that to her, she was a good actor to me. When they took her out the story line, the show wasn't that great to me.

I'm late seeing this but it is so good to see that she's in a happy and content place in her life and that she's not sulking over the fact that she's not acting. A lot of these celebrities get really down low when the roles stop but I see that she had the attitude to back herself up and know that sometimes an acting career isn't always longevity. She's doing what she loves and she appreciated the time she had with acting CONGRATULATIONS SPIRIT!!!!🥰🥰🥰

To be honest for me It wasn’t that they switched it from Bmore to LA for the college years it’s the fact that they took Spirit off the show and added white ppl to attract a different audience they also took Kelly Perine off the show who played Duane they lied about their decision making

I enjoyed watching the show in my teens I could relate to Spirit she was such a down-to-earth free spirited friend who was so supportive love the way your hair was styled... just a beautiful young lady.

Being that social media was not a thing back then, how could they say that the people are not watching the show for her character? Yes we had magazines and radio, but wasn’t nobody calling in talking about One on One. The whole cast made the show, so I’m not understanding that one.

They have ways to test the audience and what they feel about certain characters. That's why shows get recast. If they don't test well...they get rid of them. It's always been that way. This is the way they were doing things way before social media existed. I remember how it was explained at the time. Anyway, the truth is that the TV execs had hoped the show would become more mainstream so they added more diversity when she went to college. I think people forget this is when they were deciding about what they were going to do with UPN and WB. UPN and WB were trashed and they moved on with the CW. You notice how the black shows didn't make the cut for the CW, right? Exactly.

I remember being 3 , growing up and seeing how it was a girl on a show who had the same name As me (brianna) - Kyla+ black and had a good friends. Made my heart smile. She definitely made a impact . I loved spirit character as equally to Brianna’s . I’m 22 now ! And I still relate . ❤️🥰
