In this video I install some "new" parts that I found at the "parts store" aka junkyard onto my Ford Escape. The tires barely fit, but look so awesome!

245/75R16 is a nice size but only available in an LT which is super heavy and overly stiff for the vehicle weight. Heavy tires kill performance. I ran 255/70R16 Duratracs for 50k, they looked awesome, maxed out the wheel well, zero rubbing, and available in SL which is much lighter and more compliant (better off road). Now running 225/75R16 Duratrac for better mileage, also in SL, 50k so far and they will hit 55k+. Lots of towing and off highway use. 1.5” lift, 2001 AWD V6, no sway bar link modifications. Hopefully this is helpful to someone else! Great video, thanks!

Thanks for sharing! You're right about the sidewalls being stiff and the tires are heavy.

I say go with a 5th wheel tire rack installation and black gas jug a snorkel for water 4x4ing off road would be great content for the escape

have a 2011, being looking for an oil leak by the Ac Compressor it leak once in a while any idea what it is?

I have a question. Do u know witch wire on the rear end is power and witch in ground

Did you have to recalibrate the speedometer for the bigger tires ???

You don't have to do anything. But larger tires do make the speedomoter read slower than your actual speed.

Is there any more information you can give about wiring the rear diff to a switch that will allow you to lock it. I have a 2009 escape. 4x4 and I've done abunch to it but I have ran into the issue of the rear end only running like 40% power. I've heard your able to fully lock it I

I run battery power straight to the rear diff through a fuse, switch and relay. I'll do a video showing that someday.

Wanted to say thanks for your reply and I would appreciate a video when you find the time. I'm sure it will help all the escape fans. I haven't seen many videos with any aftermarket escape information. And 4x4 is critical...

I’m not sure if I missed it in the video or previous but did you have to put in a leveling kit to make these tires fit?

I like what your doing with your escape. I have an 08 XLT, same color as yours. I am in need of new tires, and I was thinking, instead of having to buy new tires, I happen to have a set of 255/70/16s in my garage.. I have the 16 wheels already. Currently my tires are 235/70/16, so the only difference would be the width... do you think the 255 will rub ?

From what I gather, they would be 20mm wider, I could take some crude measurements but I don't know how accurate that would be

They would be 5mm closer to the rear trailing arms and also a bit taller and therefore even closer. You won't know for certain if they fit until you try. It will be close.

I have 255/70r16 on my 2011 and i have no rubbing issues at all on stock suspension

Yes they fit perfectly on 2001 AWD V6. I ran duratracs in that size for 50k.
