Kai’s presentation, “Spiritual Change - The Journey to Rasta” will share with us, and the world, her personal and spiritual voyage.
Kai Davis represented her country as a dancer at a number of festivals between 1990 and 2002. She made a mark in modeling and pageantry, representing Antigua and winning events such as the Jaycee’s Caribbean Queen Show and the Carnival Queen Show. Internationally, Kai represented Antigua at the Hal Jackson Talented Teen International in New York in 1996 and the 2003 Ms. Universe Pageant in Panama, where she copped the Congeniality Award.
After joining the Rastafari livity in 2004, Kai became an Ambassador for her Faith, particularly in education. A member of the Creek Side Rastafari Community and the Nyahbinghi Theocracy Church of Haile Selassie 1st, she is a founding member of the Nyahbinghi Theocracy Church School which was established in 2005 and registered as a Community Home School in 2011. Kai recently completed an Associates Degree in Teacher Education from the University of the West Indies through the Antigua State College and is ready to fly the banners of Rastafari.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

@@karismatikkween08 the truth is, not all women will inspire a man the same way. A man will be affected/inspired differently by different women. Some women will inspire a man to build a big house, others will inspire him to meet God and the worst will inspire him to meet death.

She said a RASTA and I got goosebumps. Literally an earthquake of Truth, a reminder of how powerful our spirit is if we know ourselves, love ourselves and refuse to fit in when our inner system of guidance says No. Kai's words were full of wisdom and calming as they're healing.

Michiel vd Vlies the difference is Rasta is an individualized faith, not a club, not a religion... That’s why it’s striving among plenty. It has lifted the concept of spirituality and faith and that’s why it seems strange to so many. That’s how I see it, that’s my Rasta.

I am a Muslim and I have great respect for the sincere Rasta man and woman. I feel very close to the livity and spiritual insight of sincere Rasta, and indeed some of my Rasta brother are among the people I feel spiritually closer to and among my best friends. There's a lot of wolves out there and hypocrites who use Rastafari for personal advantages (like in every group of people), but when one get a chance to link up with the real ones, like surely this sister is, they are among the best people who trod this earth. Peace and blessings!

I was part of the Rastafari space for some time, and still interact with some. There are those who are for self-service, there are those who are there because of Marcus Garvey teachings, there are those who opted for it because of its naturalist approach to life and those who were brainwashed but very few are there because of H.I.M Haile Selassie's teachings. H.I.M's teachings are liberating and wise and helped me grow into my own person and still participate as a member of the community. Rastafari can liberate you or break you depending on where and who you are getting your education from.

This was the most beautiful speech I ever heard on TEDx Talks, maybe ever in life because it resonated with my journey to Rastafari; a lot of similarities. Almost brought tears to my eyes due to the similarities of our journey. I've been on this path now for 35 years with no regrets, and I wouldn't change a thing. I loved how you said towards the end, with emphasis, "And a Rasta." You touched my soul and I give thanks. Jah Love, Bongo Najja Foluke

I dont usually comment on youtube videos but this one knocked it out of the park! I vaguely remember the rumors about you as you mentioned. As you rightfully said your transition was a shock to the public. Listening to your message made me incredibly proud to be Antiguan! Your lead by example is nothing short of brave and courageous. Hardly anyone I know would have the strength it takes to step out of the socially conditioned roles laid out for us by our society. I salute you for staying true to what you believe in despite social pressures. Its the most courageous road a human being can take! Your path is a great inspiration! Believe that! Stay true to you!

I remember hearing in Jamaica they saying "No two Rasta agree on everything." Prophet Gad said read a chapter of the bible every day and come to your own overstanding. Then you have Mutabaruka who doesn't even deal with the bible. Everyone has their own journey, and it is not for anyone to judge another. In my opinion.

I feel like I’m on a similar journey. After dropping out of grad school pursuing an MBA, some people seemed disappointed in me. I don’t want to work for a giant heartless company like Facebook, Coca Cola, or some bank. I decided to get a job in aviation working on airplanes ensure it they’re safe for people to travel. I get to see the world with free flights as a perk. I will have a well balanced life.
