Radhanath Swami has been a Bhakti Yoga practitioner for more than 40 years, and is one of today's most beloved and respected spiritual teachers. He is a guide, community builder, activist, and acclaimed author. Rooted in his study of ancient India's mystic devotional, Radhanath's message is simple: by cultivating a genuine practice of service, we can become instruments of compassion and agents of sustainable change in the world. Born into a Jewish family in Chicago, his journey began when he was 19 when he set off to hitchhike across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. In India he studied some of the foremost spiritual and yoga masters before returning to the West to share his gifts of wisdom. Today Radhanath is the founder and coordinator of multiple spiritual talks around the world. His work includes support for missionary hospitals, orphanages, schools and emergency relief programmes.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I got tears in my eyes when Radhanath was telling the story about the woman who was inflicted with leprosy when she blessed him. The whole talk was compelling and one of the best I've heard. When I listened to his talk I also thought of when my father as a doctor (chief doctor for Save the Children's hospital in Taiz in North Yemen after his job used to go to a clinic where he on a voluntarily basis treated people who got lepra. Once I went together with my twin sister to the clinic and experienced what Radhanath probably was feeling. I went into a big house where people lived on the floor. They had no nose, no fingers where they sat observing me. The smell was indescribable. In this dark room in the house small children played, seemingly not worried about their situation. It was unreal! At the moment I understood how fortunate I (and everyone who is in the same position as I am) I am (was; this was 1969), but how easy it is to forget. I felt surprised that no one was standing up after this remarkable important and eloquently performed speech! Radhanath seems to be a most wonderful man, who has come to a point of realization (awareness) that only a few will experience!

I watched this talk in fascinated admiration and with a deep sense of gratitude to Radhanath Swami for so powerfully sharing on the topic of love. But, uh, then I noticed it was given at a Business School. Everyone will admit, as George Orwell so aptly put it, that all 'business is a swindle.' So I first I thought, 'why did he talk there?' Then I thought, 'what better place to speak of love!'. I hope the business people there took his words to heart!

@norsang lama Haha.. That's not true. That's misinformation. Destruction of demons (cruel people) is required so that people can live peacefully. I have read full Gita and Bhagwatam. No religion asks for violence, it's just people misinterpretation. Foolish to follow the basic instructions wrongly.

If you have never had any awakening experiences, you might think this talk is about how our morals and thinking patterns have changed over the years. This is just the result of your state of consciousness though. What do I mean? Begin your own search, bring interest in this topic in your life right now, it's basically showing you that everything you thought you knew and what you are as a person has nothing to do with your true self. It will bring so much more into your life I'm not even crazy or strange but it's true

Today's world very much needs such spiritual leaders to enlighten world with true knowledge. Then, only there can be peace, harmony and happiness in this world. Without understanding the meaning and purpose of life, we will continue to act imperfectly that'd harm ourselves and others. Thank you so much for spiritual teachings! True spirituality is meant to develop service attitude, not to exploit and cheat people.

His meeting guru,s great&not so great, indicates how, like a magnet you can attract a teacher who can give you a greater insight, especially his meeting with NEEM KAROLI BABA,who gave him the RAMA KRISHNA MANTRA,that helps one to grow inward.

True . Thats why i prefer india ( the place i live , there is so much culture , so much customs , too much family values and societal values ) Asia has a good culture but is poor materialistically but rich in spirituality

@@ghc2009 people are very loving in India but there are a ton of poor people ignored by society in India. Probably more then anywhere else. India must use its rich culture and help each other to better por people's life.

True, West is very much intellectually driven, very mechanical. Forming bonds here, even with family and neighbors seems tough. This is where mingling of cultures is necessary so that we learn from each other. It's great to see people like this swami adopting and spreading the love he learned from other cultures.

Radhanath Swami is very peaceful and an amazing human being. His words literally sparks light inside you. I am definitely drowning towards Hinduism by listening more and more logical things from him and other enlightened Gurus like him 🙂

Such moving teaching by Swami Ji. I don't know why this video doesn't even have a million views even after such a long time! It is among the best talks available on TEDx.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your spiritual journey. The story about the leper mother blessing you is so powerful, and for you to witness her true beauty in this moment. Our physical lives are precious and disposable, and yet our true divine light can illuminate our path and remind us that our main purpose as this divine mother showed you is simple-to love and be loved. Namaste
