Might be my favourite band of all time. Such a body of work, and amazing live.

Saw them in The Royal Albert hall doing ladies and gentlemen album when it was only out.Eing out of it,most amazing gig I was at,went from Dublin that morning on the ferry.Watched the gig from a private box owned by this couple in their 60s who just went to any show they wanted,very surreal and emotional experience, people were crying and the building was shaking.

I experienced the same thing albeit in a much smaller venue, Manchester Apollo (one of my fave venues) and i have to agree it was a very intense and emotional evening.

Incredible. Pierce always makes the live show a near religious experience.

born on a black day, shot through with starlight. don't know where we're going...set my soul on fire. I think I'm in love 😍
Idk wtf some of these people are talking about the first two songs not being great or entertaining, they're beautiful and at the end they top it off with some hard rocknroll

A beauty. So few bands have sounded this good on that programme, and Jay's so underrated it's bleedin' ridiculous.

So freaking underrated in America... I can't wait for the new album the new stuff sounds amazing.. I really thought J.spaceman might start slowing down after Amazing Grace... Songs in A&E was one of their best albums!

His name is Tony "Doggen" Foster, and it has to be said that he is incredible! Everyone focuses on Jason, but for me, Doggen is just as big a part of Spiritualized.

Ever hear of Pete Kember?
@thesprawl23617 жыл бұрын
j hu Pete isn't in the same galaxy as Jason in terms of songwriting ability. His solo stuff bears that out. His highpoint as a songwriter was the brilliant first side of Recurring. Apart from that he's not written a single stand-out track in his life. His great contribution was in spurring Jason on to write more experimental stuff when he was in the Spacemen.
@bubcentral23 Жыл бұрын
The greatest part is he frequently admits to being at best a very basic guitarist. But boy can he compose some brilliant songs with 2 or 3 chords. If you've got a great band behind you too it helps booster up the sound.

These are _not_ highpoints in the Spiritualized back-catalogue. Soul On Fire's good-ish, Sweet Talk is a nothingy kind of track and You Lie, You Cheat is, again, good-ish. Anyone experiencing Spiritualized for the first time from this video would do well to instead go and check out Yeah Yeah, which is a sharp, focused bullet of a rock song, or Rated X and The Ballad Of Richie Lee, which are two of the most beautiful songs Jason Pierce ever wrote. All three are from around the same period in the mid-to-late noughties as the three, vastly inferior songs in this video.

Sound quality is appalling. Surely there's a decent quality version of this. Such a shame, can't appreciate the full magnificence of the performance.

A band for the real 'I want to fit in with the rest of the indie kids', but not for those who want something different. There's not much about Independent music at the moment, the only real independent things are the record label, the music sticks to the same rules, which is what indie music is meant to be avoiding.
@jukeboxbaby17 жыл бұрын
Honestly, Spiritualized is too clean, almost sounds like U2. Spacemen 3 sounds much more soulful.
@mrtabitha317 жыл бұрын
jukeboxbaby1 Sounds more like Slowdive and mojove 3 ... Sounds nothing at all like U2. Watch yourself silly.
@sissyfist7 жыл бұрын
jukeboxbaby1 Bono wishes he could write like this, he simply isn't able too, he hasn't lived through the same things and has never, in my opinion, been able to recapture the magic of 80s, early 90s U2. That is just my opinion, I am not one who normally goes around saying this or that band used to be so much better. In the case of U2 it just happens to be true.
@jackfirmin58146 жыл бұрын
jukeboxbaby1 oh my dear lord, please go and wash your mouth for writing this haha. U2 my ass 🤣
@chriswright90725 жыл бұрын
sorry brother, but U2 are a short cut to thinking when it comes to music! Plus Bono is an evil mother TWAT!!!!!!!
